Have you ever seen any of your Spears connected to the Jeffries and/or Tuggle families? But, you are right about the Virginia migration to Greene/Wilkes. Many Rev War soldiers of VA were paid for their war service by land grants in this frontier region of Georgia, circa 1780-1820. (Most Rev War soldiers served without pay and were true Patriots.) So, when when genealogy dead ends in this region of GA, it is a good bet to search Virginia censuses, probate records, etc., for the first known name of the family in GA of that time period. Incidentally, Jefferies was an early Virginia Colonial family. - Bill Jones
