    3. I am new to the list. I am seeking information on James Moore who had a dual residence in the early 1800s--his GA residence changed back and forth between Jasper and Jones Counties and his Creek residence was in the town of Okfuskee in the AL Creek nation (currently would be in Tallapoosa Co.). He may have come to the GA area with some of the Moore Quakers, and might be the James R. Moore that appears on an early tax list in the town of Clinton in Jones and a bit earlier in Jasper. Does anyone know if this is him, or if another James Moore is him? Does anyone know if he was a member of the Quaker family that came to the area (Iddings Moore was one member of this family). James was b. between 1760 and 1770 possibly in PA. He was called "Jimmy Tawny" by the whites and Creeks. He later married a Creek woman named Fanny--likely had earlier wife[s]. He would have been in GA just after 1800 and by about 1830 seemed to have had an exclusive residence in the Creek nation (and was adopted by them). His children were swept out of Okfuskee during Removal. Among the names in his family is an Ebenezer Moore, b. 1802--but I believe this is a nephew and not a son. I am wondering if this Ebenezer isn't tied somehow to the Ebenezer Moore of Jones County and hence if this other Moore line isn't somehow tied to him. On the other hand, there is an Ebenezer Moore in AL, b. 1802, that lived in Lawrence Co., AL who might be the one that appears in James' family group during Removal, and James may be related to this family up north. James also had two trading partners--one a Jew named Abram Mordecai and another a James Taylor. The letters I have from them suggest they both lived in Jasper County until about 1814, then moved to Jones. I also found a court record of this James Moore related to Indian trade where James appears before a judge by the name of Jacob Mordecai. I wonder if this might be a relative of Abram Mordecai. Anyone know anything about this judge? Any information would be so appreciated. Jill Florence Lackey, PhD Urban Anthropology Inc. Jill Florence Lackey & Associates 1962 N.
