His father was William Allen and mother Pheobe Horton. He was married many years ago to Mary Jane Price, daughter of Leroy M. Price. He is survived by five children: Mrs. W. A. White of Monticello, GA. Mrs J. G. Hardy, of Ben Hill, GA. Mrs. Lucy Millen, Mrs. Kelsey Johnson, and Miss Maggie Allen, of Mechanicsville, GA. He moved early in life to Mechanicsville, GA. and spent most of his life in that community, except in his declining days, when he lived with his children. He served in the War Between The States, as a brave and courageous Confederate soldier, and was at one time wounded, which no doubt hastened him to his grave. His church membership was the Mt. Zion Christian Church. He was a deacon in this church at time of his death. He was devoted to his church, and was a firm believer that Jesus died for the sins of the world, and rose again that all who believe in Him should not perish but have life eternal. His death occurred at the home of his sister Mrs. John C. Key, in Monticello, GA., Jan. 8th, 1912. His last resting place on earth is in Mt. Zion Christian Church Cemetery, at Mechanicsville, GA., beside that of his life companion. His body lies there gently sleeping while the Georgia pine sings its sad anthem to the host of the unreplying dead. " Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them that love His appearing." Newspaper Mrs. W. A. White, 71 years of age, died at the family residence in this city, at 3:10 o'clock Wednesday morning after a protracted illness. The news of her death, while not unexpected, came as a shock to host of relatives and friends. She was a consecrated member of Mount Zion Christian Church, located in the western part of the county. Her long life was interwoven with the activities not only of her church but the affairs of the Mechanicsville community where she spent the greater portion of her life before moving to Monticello several years ago. In temperament she was mild and candid, generous, loyal--- altogether a woman of the sweetest and most admirable attributes of character. Truly, her life was an inspiration for good amongst a large number of neighbors and friends who, without a doubt will miss her. Funeral services will be held this Thursday morning at 11 o'clock at Mt Zion Church, the Reverend Charles H. Tucker, of Perry, officiating. He will be assisted by the Reverend Clifton A. News William Austin White, 71 one of Monticello's prominet and beloved residents, died at his home on Covington Road Wednesday, November 15. For the past several years he had been in feeble health and his death was not unexpected. Mr. White a native of Jasper Co., was born January 24, 1873 at the White homestead in Mechanicsville community, and for a long number of years was one of that section's leading farmers. At the age of 24, he united with the Mt. Zion Christian church and throughout his long and useful life he was loyal to the Master's cause. He was very much interested in church work and the welfare of that community for a long number of years. Many years ago he, together with his family, moved to Monticello. Mr. White's high ideals and lofty principles endeared him to neighbors, friends and acquaintances, and in his passing the town and county sustain the loss of a highly esteemed citizen. Funeral services were held at Mt. Zion church Friday, November 17, at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. T. T. G. Linkous of Decatur, pastor. With Mrs. J. E. Hill of Monticello as pianist, the choir, composed of Judge Eugene Middlebrooks, Mrs. T. O. Benton, Mrs. Hula Oxford, and Mrs. E. A. It was many, many years ago--1815, I believe the family record tells us--- was born at Mechanicsville, GA. Mr. William Page White. He had been a resident here for 89 winters, Dec. 31, last. Only last Saturday March 11th, at 2 o'clock a.m., his soul deserted its old building, and took its flight to another world, which if we are to judge--rest with its Maker in that great and eternal city Heaven. His death was sad indeed, not because he was not prepared to meet and stand the realities of the future, but sad because his useful, sweet life here was brought to a close. Because of this, God had selected him for a long and happy life; his neighbors loved him so; he will be missed so much. He had been a veteran of two wars--the Indian and War Between The States. He served in Captain Lane's Company of the 38th Georgia Militia in the Creek War, muster roll dated May 24, 1836 Jasper County GA., and also served in the Civil War. He was laid to rest in the" White Cemetery". There the Georgia pine sings its anthem to the unreplying dead; there the honeysuckle casts its sweet fragrance in their loving Remembrance. He leaves behind to morn his loss and follow him one daughter and two sons. We extend to the bereaved family our deepest sympathy in the loss of their father. Charles Kitchens died in Jasper Co. on Jan. 13, 1864. His widow, Elizabeth said that his will had been stolen, but on advise of counsel, was not encouraged to pursue legal action, the reasons being cited; the ongoing Civil War, and her advanced age. For some reason she did not obtain letters of administration, and the court appointed Jeese M. Owens as administrator. An inventory was quickly made, and on March 9, 1864 a sale brought in $5882.30. Sometime thereafter, Elizabeth produced a copy of the will, which apparently left everything to her! It was presented in Jasper County Superior Court in September 1865. The numerous depositions of friends, children, and grandchildren are a genealogical "goldmine" for the Charles & Elizabeth Kitchens family. It is an intriguing tale, involving multiple wills, Masonic journals, a stolen wooden chest, and "playing ghosts". Similar(original)records from the Jasper Co. court proceedings are also available at the Archives, but are very hard to read because of water damage.(Also see "Court Reports" on this site-"Kitchens vs Kitchens") Additional Comments: (Page 1 of 3 pages) File at: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/jasper/photos/documents/gph1229kitchens.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.2 Kb

Surnames: Phillips,Smith,Sutton,Eldridge,Faulk Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Dd.2ADE/1435 Message Board Post: Isham has in his household in 1830 three males between 0-5 years old,one male between 20-30 and one male between 40-50.The household has three females between 10-15 and one female between 30-40 years old.Isham born in 1785 was 45 in 1830.His wife,Mary Polly Smith Phillips, born 1797 was 33.The 20-30 year old male,I am guessing,is Robert Reliford Phillips, son of Isham and Mary, born 1810 and 20 years old in 1830.Isham and Mary married 9 Dec 1808 in Jackson Co.GA.She was just a little girl when they wed.The dates are quoted in many places on line.No one has said anything about her age.One of the little boys would be my direct ancestor,Arrington H.H.Phillips,born 1825 and 5 years old in 1830.The youngest little boy must have been Thomas Peter Cuming Phillips born 1829 and 1 year old.Isham and Mary are living in Thomas' home in the 1850 Barbour Co. AL Census.I know Arrington had a brother named Henry because he married Henry's widow,Caroline Sutton Phillips. She was his third and! last wife. She was the sister of Arrington's first wife,Martha Sutton Phillips, also my direct ancestor.Burrell Phillips,an other son of Isham and Mary, was born about 1822.An other boy,Kinchen, has no dates I can discover.Who then were the three females between 10-15?Daughters of Isham and Mary?Robert Reilford Phillips married Darkus Eldridge in 1835 in Twiggs GA. I do not think any of these girls were young wives of the sons.Isham's sister,Milberry, married Mark Faulk. The Faulks and the Phillips family left Twiggs Co.GA in a wagon train in 1844.They settled in Barbour Co.AL where they appear on the 1850 Census in the Faulk's District near Elamville.Thank-you for reading my query and good hunting to all
