Hi Faye, Thanks for responding! Unfortunately, I'm researching (just counted 'em) 99 lines not to mention all there places so I can't afford to spend money on books for them all--wish I could! Sticking with libraries and free internet sources for the time being... Thanks for the info on the Elijah Cowen. He is too old. There's another who is too young. (My Elijah is just right? Sound like the 3 little bears?). I believe mine to be related to both but can't prove it yet! Mine is truly elusive! There are several names in common (William Marion, Nancy, and Sally/Sarah Ann as well as the name Elijah) with all 3, but I can't find the link! Mine may be a son of Isaac or James brothers to Samuel, sons of William (hope I have that right!), but again--absolutely no proof! (one Elijah b. 1769,d. 1811, the other born 1819, I think) Appreciate the info on Franklin Co--several people let me know that Jackson was never part of Wilkes--my Samuel source had passed that on to me but I guess he was mistaken or I misunderstood! I have tried Franklin--I'm running out of counties to check! Just in case, here's my info again... Elijah Cowan b. 1800 m. Sarah Ann probably in GA ca 1832, probably died in Ouachita Parish, LA where most of this family is buried (no stone for him tho!) Children --all but first and last were born in GA--somewhere!!! They were: Elijah Ambrose born AL William Marion Mary Ann Hester b. 1833 Sherwood Campbell b. 1835 Nancy Catherine b. 1837 John Austin b. 1839 Sarah Ann Rebecca b. 1844 Elizabeth b. 1854 in Ouachita Parish, LA thanks for anything!
