Payne was the son of Daisy Sims Payne and if Daisy was the daughter of James Murray Sims of Maysville. Thank you Todd Dorsey Maysville GA Nov. 13,1963 Jackson Herald: Robert L. Payne, age 54, died Friday, November 8, following a short illness at his home in Atlanta. Mr. Payne was a former resident of Jackson County and has been a resident of Atlanta most of his life. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gladys Irene Payne of Comer; one son, RL Payne of Jefferson; one daughter, Mrs. Virginia Cook of Pendergrass; and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, November 10, at 2 PM from Randolph Ward’s Chapel in Jefferson. Interment was in Maysville cemetery.
