    3. I am posting this to warn others about problems with ; Census Microfilm Expeditors 476 E. South Temple , Suite 4 Salt Lake City , UT 84111 website ; www.censusmicrofilm.com e-mail ; gme@nwinfo.net and ; sj@censusmicrofilm.com I was lured to order several microfilm copies from this company with "guarantees" of "speedy delivery" and "low price" . My order was placed in October of 1998 and as of this posting I have not received the order or a refund after numerous contacts with Steven Jensen at this firm . In his occasional replies he repeatedly gave false information to me as to the status of the order and cashed the check when mentioned stopping payment on it .I have copies of all documents and correspondences for those interested . Complaints have been filed with the Better Business Bureau and the United States Postal Inspectors , they have informed me that even they can't order this company to give a refund , but may seek criminal charges . I guess small claims court is next . If you are seeking genealogy resources......consider my experiences with this "Firm". Thank you , Kenneth Sartin researching ; Sartin , Sartain , Sarton , Sarten , Sardin etc. etc.

Robert Sr. of Pittsylvania--where he and William lived as early as 1767--fought at the Battle of Guilford Court House. Elijah, John, Robert (2), Thomas and William Walters were taxed in Pittsylvania in 1782 and in 1785 they again appeared on the tax list, with the addition of Clement and another Robert. Clement also was a Revolutionary soldier. Clement, Eleanor and Nancy Walters were enumerated in Habersham Co. in 1820, and others were in Hall, Baldwin and Lincoln Counties. In 1832, Clement Waters, the old soldier drew Cherokee County land granted Dec. 14, 1838. Another Revolutionary veteran was Peter Walters of Franklin Co, who in 1827 drew Muscogee County land granted March 8, 1830. Two Roberts and Juda left will in Franklin County. There were a number of marriages including that of Jeremiah to Eliza Tate, and in 1827, Larkin Walters was listed in the lottery. John R. Both appear from time to time in the Wilkes Co. records and by 1783 Matthew was dead. The Matthew of Jackson Co. was perhaps a son or nephew (?). Collison or Callison Waters had land on Wardman's Creek in McKeever's district in 1803 and he was listed in the 1805 Jackson lottery. In 1820, the family was enumerated in a number of counties, including Wilkes, Elbert, Washington and Oglethorpe. Robert Sr. of Pittsylvania--where he and William lived as early as 1767--fought at the Battle of Guilford Court House. In 1827, James' orphans were listed in Gwinnett County, and William was living in Walton County. George M. Waters, who at this time lived in Bryan County, later moved to Gwinnett." 1-1053. Taylor, as I've hit dead ends on these. I spent a week in Jackson Co. several years ago, researching my family, but it wasn't enough time. I could probably have spent a month in the Courthouse alone. I must say that everyone I encountered was very kind and helpful, and I enjoyed my visit immensely. Craig Burns

    2. Hello Everybody, I would like to post my query again with some additional information I have received just from the couple of days being on this listserver. Thanks to everyone who has helped. Okay, I am trying to find my grandmother's family (other children and grandchildren) and possibly even her, although she would be 78 by now. My mother was adopted at birth but my mother's birth certificate has the bio- mother listed, Frances Gene Philips of Tift County Georgia. When I received a copy of my grandmother's birth certificate it listed parents and the father, William Philips, was born in Jackson County, Georgia abt. 1872. Looking for an 8 year old William Philips in the 1880 census I came across the following: William Phillips age 33 Frances Phillips age 43 Lulu M. Phillips age 13 Richard L. Phillips age 10 William S. Phillips age 8 Mimie L. Phillips age 4 Albert P. Phillips age 1 Then in the 1870 census I found the family again: William Phillips age 23 Frances Phillips age 30 (lied about her age?!?) Lula Phillips age 3 Anderson Phillips age 5/12 So, now I need to link this family to my grandmothers birth certificate to prove that they are one in the same. And here is where I am stumped. It is a strong indication that the 10 year old William in the 1880 census is my g-g- grandfather because of the age and the fact that the boys mother and my grandmother shared the same first name. But it's not conclusive in itself. I have not yet been able to find any information on the siblings that would lead me to relatives that would be still alive. If anybody can give me suggestions as to where to go from here I would greatly appreciate it. This is one of those "so close... yet so far..." scenarios. Thanks for listening, Erick--

    2. Hi Faye - The age and everything match up perfectly, a strong match. Thanks for sending me this. I was at the FHC in Oakland this weekend and found the family in the 1870 census but didn't go farther back than that. My determination now is to find their descendants to verify if these are my relatives or not. Are these people in your family tree? Thanks again, Erick-- << Hi Erick - From the 1860 Jackson Co. census, it looks like your William Phillips, b. 1847, belonged to this family (household #326) Abner Philips, 38M, b. GA Sarah 38F, b. GA William 13M, b. GA Nancy 11F, b. GA Harris 10M, b. GA Emaline 5F, b. GA I didn't find them in 1850 Jackson Co. census, although there were some more Phillips families there. He married Sarah Langly in 1843 in Jackson Co. There was another Abner Phillips in the 1830 Gwinnett Co., GA census (Gwinnett is a little south of Jackson Co., and a part of it was formed from the original Jackson Co.). His age at that time was 40-50, wife 30-40, and 6 sons and 1 dau. Possibly he was related. Hope this helps. Faye >>
