Seven counties were created with the Act of December 15, 1818 and they are numbered in the order in which they are named in the Act of the General Assembly of December 15, 1818. the Counties are #43 Early, #44 Irwin, #45 Appling, #46 Walton, #47 Gwinnett, #48 Hall and #49 Habersham. Then Irwin took area from Berrien County in 1857 and 1877 and also from Coffee County in 1856, 1856, 1857 and 1858. Irwin County gave up area to the following counties : Ben Hill 1906 Berrien 1856, 1859 Coffee in 1854, 1857, 1858,1859, 1859, 1874 Lowndes Thomas Tift 1905 Turner 1905 Wilcox 1857 Worth 1853
