Jacksonville, Ga., Telfair Co. -- I have noticed that many queries are related to the articles and pictures on my Old Jacksonville, Ga., website. As of today, 5/18/2001, there are 107 articles and 161 pictures on the site. I will post Article No. 108 this weekend. Subjects range from the explosion of the steamboat, The Gen. Manning, to a history (several articles) of the Willcoxes from Pa. to Ga., the Civil War battles of the 7th, 20th, and 49th, with attention given to the unusual military feats of the two McCrimmon brothers, John and Farquhar. Recently, the adventures of Wilson Conner, early Baptist minister, appear on the site (with a special thank you to Sid Johnson of Brewton-Parker College for letting me use generous portions from his great book, "Longpondium"). Wilson's daughter, Louisa, married John Willcox III. Wilson Conner died in the pulpit at Sharon Church in 1844. Hope you will enjoy the site. Click below to go to it and the links.
