They came to Irwin County sometime after 1821 and before 1831 from Emanuel County Georgia. They both were members of the "Dorminy Meeting House" church that was constituted Dec. 17, 1831 on a site one mile NWW of Irwinville, GA near their home. The Dorminy Meeting House Cemetery where John and Rachel are buried is documented in my book, " DORMINY/DORMINEY: Descendants of John and Rachel Dorminy of Irwin County, Georgia". Go to my homepage and look for the information on the book. You might be interested in the marriage and estate records of Irwin County, Georgia that are also on my webpage. My line descends from Sion and Bridget Hall's oldest daughter Nancy who was born in 1806. I have heard that her middle name may have been Jackson. Maybe after her grandmother. According to my info, Nancy married John Pike in Irwin County, GA in 1822 and they had several children. She died in 1837 and is buried in the Hall Cemetery in Brooks Co., GA. The marriage record index in Telfair Co., GA lists Sion Hall and Elizabeth Coaker as having married April 27, 1817. I have heard that Sion had 8 children in all but I have only been able to find information on 4 of them, Nancy, Enoch, Sukey, and Nancy Ann. Helen

Posted on: Irwin County, Ga Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Irwin/429 Surname: Pendarvis, Green, Cooper, Croft, Gilstrap, Grantham ------------------------- I have a Sion Hall b 1784. As far as I know, he was married to Bridget Hall (his first cousin, called "Beady" and daughter of his Uncle Lewis Hall) and had 2 children, Enoch (b 1804) and Sooky Ann Hall. Then he married Elizabeth Coker in 1801 (another source says he married her in 1817) and don't think they had any children. Then he married Pollie Morrison in 1838 and had child, Nancy Ann Hall b 1840. Sion's mother, Nancy Jackson Hall appears in the 1820 census of Telfair, GA and abt 1825 she moved with most of her children to the southern part of Irwin County, GA located on the new Coffee Road 2 miles northeast of present town of Morven, Brooks, Co., GA. Sion was one of the first settlers of Irwin Co (now Brooks) and I have yet another source that states he moved to Irwin County (now Brooks) in 1819. If someone could clear up some of my mis-information with these dates, I sure would appreciate it! Thanks, Connie

He was married to Elizabeth Coaker in 1817 but was apparently married before that as he had 2 children that I know of, Enoch, who was born in 1804, and Nancy, who was born in 1806. Sion Hall had at least one brother, John. Any information on this family will be greatly appreciated.

Her mother MEHALIE LUKE ALEXANDER SMITH died in 1905 when my grandmother would have been about 5. Her father LEWIS SMITH, a Civil War veteran, was old and disabled by this time (he died in 1925). 3. Hi Y'all: I want to share that I now know Mrs. Henry C. Beaty's maiden and given name: Margaret Culbirth emigrated with Henry from Camperdown, Ireland. I went to the Root Cellar in Sacramento yesterday and found that Henry C. Beat(t)y was listed as a grand juror in 1799 (Jefferson County, GA). I found this info in Georgia Genealogical Gems: A gathering of articles previously published in the NCSQ (National Genealogical Soc., Washington, DC, 1981. I'm excerpting from pg. 51: Jefferson County, GA. Jury List, 1799 by Wm. H. Dumont Jefferson Co., GA, was formed 20 Feb. 1796 from Burke, Warren and Washington Counties. About one-third of the county was originally in Burke Co. The County seat, Louisville, was also the Capital of GA up to 1807. The business section and many homes were destroyed by fire in 1864 set by the Union Army on its march from Atlanta to Savannah. Many of the records in the Ordinary's Office escaped this fire, but those of the Clerk's Office were almost completely destroyed. One of the few books saved has the list of persons, based on the tax rolls, who were selected to serve on the grand and "petit" juries of Jefferson Coo. This first list was for 1799 while the second was for 1801, and every two years thereafter. Evidently the list was made every two years. There are three more paragraphs I won't bother to copy. However, I did want to share this gem with my Wiregrass kin. Good luck on your searches. 3. Methodist Preachers in Georgia was compiled by Rev. Harold Lawrence and published by his publishing company. Boyd Publishing Co., Milledgeville, GA. I don't have an exact mailing address, but this should reach him. His catalog (cost $2.00) has many good Georgia titles. He also published a supplement to his Methodist Preachers in Georgia. 3. Hi June: I think we established that we are cousins some time back. I could not get into the information of the Osierville Cemetary -- it won't let me. Anyway, I know Mary Beaty's name, it's her mother's name I'm looking for. I don't know if she came with him when he emigrated from Ireland or if they met here (I mean in GA). The records say Jefferson/Irwin County (mar. and died). Do you know of any other children from Mr. and Mrs. Henry Beaty? Thanks, June from No. Calif. _____________________________________________________________ Goddesspace ---> http://www.goddesspace.com
