Hi Gloria and everyone, I am trying to get to the Pulaski county site but when I try to click on the link after doing a search or clicking on the link from the Irwin county site, I get a "page not found". Is there a new URL? Tonya Newton -searching surnames: Bussell; Sapp; Lewis; Walker; Luke; Lucas
Wouldn't it be better for everyone to sign up for the DAILY-UPLOADS-L@rootsweb.com instead of getting all of the GA Archive Uploads to every list we are on? Winn, that is a great suggestion. And yes, it can be a real problem for subscribers who subscribe to multiple mail lists. What do the rest of the list members think about Winn's suggestion that anyone who wants the USGenWeb Archives Daily Updates just subscribe to their list? Also there is a webpage where people can go and see all of the new files placed in the USGenWeb Archives by State and County. That might be an alternative for those who don't want to subscribe to the list for updates. Winn supplied the link for the Archives' Mail List: DAILY-UPLOADS-L@rootsweb.com Some new list rules have been announced and they will affect us in this way. If anyone with a genealogy or historical society, project, no matter what project affilation, can post Irwin County specific information to the list. But it should not be for sales purposes or in the way of spam (something that is duplicated on many mail lists). And the information should be county specific and not general information that pertains to many counties and not just one GA County. Winn, thanks so much for that suggestion as I think it will be of great help to those who would like to see those daily archives updates. That way the wishes of a few are not forced on the others who subscribe to this list. If someone has read a book that has been published and can tell us about it and where to purchase it and any other particulars about the book, I don't see anything wrong in sharing that information, for we can keep one another up to date on what is being written about the county and the pioneers. How do the rest of you feel about the things mentioned above? Gloria :) A-T-K's Grannie <gnw@rose.net> wrote:Wouldn't it be better for everyone to sign up for the DAILY-UPLOADS-L@rootsweb.com instead of getting all of the GA Archive Uploads to every list we are on? Surnames: ALL Classification: Marriage Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Tc.2ADI/780 Message Board Post: Board Members most of your know that our Cousin, Edd Dorminey has transcribed direct from the original records found in the Irwin County Courthouse and many years ago generously posted them online for our use. Edd's marriage transcriptions include over 7,000 persons. Here is a list of Edd's WebPages for those who are new to this message board and new to Irwin County research. http://www.surfsouth.com/~edormine/date.htm http://www.surfsouth.com/~edormine/micro.htm http://www.surfsouth.com/~edormine/will.htm http://www.surfsouth.com/~edormine/estate.htm http://www.surfsouth.com/~edormine/guardian.htm http://www.surfsouth.com/~edormine/other.htm http://www.surfsouth.com/~edormine/marrfix1.htm In addition to that Edd has also posted family histories of many Pioneer families. So be sure to visit his wonderful site and if your a Dorminey descendant do see the index to his Dorminey book which is still available if I am not mistaken. Hope this will be of some help. Too bad that Ms. Fisher spent all of that duplicating records which are already online. Not everyone is willing to transcribe records but many are able to copy and paste. There are so many other records that still need to be transcribed. It would be wonderful if she could work on some of those, such as the Irwin County Land and Property Records. Those records can be found by doing a search online at the LDS Search Page for the Library Catalog Index. Search by Subject, Title, Locality for Irwin County, and GA records. Kind Regards, Gloria
Hi, has the problem been corrected or are some of the subscribers still getting duplicate messages? If so let me know. But seems to have cleared up from what I see coming across the list. Janice, This is great and I know you were delighted to find it. I wonder how it happened. I suppose your ancestor had a great sense of humor. Thank you for replying. The only information I have re the cemetery is Paulk Family Cemetery. Hwy 90 out of Oscilla toward Willacoochee. Turn right on CR 66 and then left on CR 63. I have a picture of her marker, I just need to know who her parents were and where did she come from etc etc. If you can find out anything about her I would be so grateful. Would you have more details as to which Paulk Cem.? I do have alot of Pic., not of the Giddens or the Nasworthy, but of the Paulk's Cem. There is a Union Primitive Baptist Church and Cemetery were their are some of the first Paulks of Ga. buried at. And there is also Jacob Paulk Cemetery on Lot of land 37 in the 5th dist, of Irwin. Winn, are you still getting three of each message? Let me know if it has stopped. I checked to see if anyone is listed twice and only one person is listed to received the digest as well as the regular messages. One is listed twice but by two emails but I will check to see which one is current and delete the other. Other wise the list looks normal and no duplications of email addresses.
