I have been taking some time off from genealogy to be with my immediate family and some friends throughout the holiday season. Doing some long neglected chores that needed to be completed before digging into transcriptions, webpage management and all genealogical projects for 2005. In the interim I wish each and everyone of you a very Happy and Healthy New Year. Bless each of you for all the work that you do and have done to help other researchers throughout 2004. In the Irwin County Cemetery Book, by Jessie Paulk, page 432. Soldier's Cemetery with 3 graves: Lt. Thomas Bradford 1755-1840 Bradford, Mrs. Thomas not marked Griffin, James 1753-1836 There is a picture of a very nice marker which reads: This Historic Marker Erected by Descendants of Corporal James Griffin 1753-1836 and Lieut. Thomas Bradford 1756-1840 These Revolutionary War Heroes were both Born in Edgecombe County, N. C. and their remains are near this site where they settled these lands in the early 1800's. This cemetery is located approximately four miles north of Lax on GA 90, approximately 50 yards off the south side of the road just before you reach the Willacoochee River Bridge. It is marked by the DAR. Surveyed by REv. Larry Clements, Feb. 1993. ---------------- I have not been to this cemetery.
