Surnames: Smith, Webster Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Tc.2ADI/274.3 Message Board Post: Hi, I'm transcribing, photographing and abstracting from the Ben Hill County newspapers and have a lot online already but will be continuing this project until I reach a period in time that infringes on the privacy of families in the area, including my own. The clubs and organizations all had a bit in the paper each week which often named members and visitors. We have volunteers who have books and will search them for the Irwin County newspapers to see if anything is there about your ancestors. I have all of these messages sent to the county mail list so the volunteers who might miss your message will be certain to have a copy of it in their email box. Could that one ancestor be a Sumner and the Shunner name spelled wrong? The Sumner family was one of the earliest in that area of Georgia. I'll send you the links to the newspaper transcriptions and will also send you a link for the volunteers who will be happy to help you with your questions. Kind Regards, Gloria

    3. My Great Great Great Grandfather was Malcom Bass, son of Richard Bass and Euphemia Culbreath. Richard was a brother to your Uriah. At least I think that is how it goes but our cousin, Winnette Stinson can fill you in on the details. We have quite a few of our Bass cousins online who are very knowledgeble about the early Bass history in this county. One is Lea Dowd. Have you been in touch with Lea regarding the early Bass men and women in this country? Lea and a friend of hers co authored a book about the early Bass family in America.
