Have you? The William that married Eliza Hunter, dau of Elija Hunter and Penelope Cox Hunter was born in 1817 and died in 1864. They were in Georgia in the 1840, 1850 and 1860 census years. Do you have them somewhere else during that time? Thanks, Dayna

    1. Samuel Goff m. Eliza Hunter / Irwin Co. Georgia
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Goff, Hunter, Cox, Conger Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Tc.2ADI/835 Message Board Post: I am trying to determine the correct parentage for Samuel Goff (b. c. 1820) who married Eliza Hunter and resided many years in Irwin County, Georgia. Samuel and Eliza are GGGGrandparents through their daughter Martha who married George Washington Conger and lived in the Tifton, Georgia area throughout her life. Speculation is that James Goff (married Frances Davis) who lived some time in Bulloch County Georgia before moving to Mississippi with most of his family, was the father of Samuel. Samuel is supposed to have stayed in Georgia (with a short interlude in Florida where Martha was born) where his wife, Eliza's family was established. These Goff and Hunter families are further drawn together by the marriage of William Goff ( supposed brother of Samuel Goff to Elizabeth Hunter, sister of Eliza Hunter). William Goff and Elizabeth Hunter did move to Mississippi with James Goff, father of William and Samuel (?). Please, any help to confirm the relationship of Samuel Goff (born c. 1820) to his supposed father, James Goff (born 1782 in N.C., married Frances Davis) would be very much appreciated.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Goff, Hunter, Cox Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Tc.2ADI/71.128.1 Message Board Post: Dayna, I am trying to find evidence of supposed relationships that are closely ties to your expressed interest. Eliza Hunter, supposed sister of Elizabeth Hunter and daughter of Elija Hunter & Penelope Cox was to have married Samuel Goff, supposed brother of William Goff and son of James Goff and Frances Davis. When two brothers marry two sisters it lends good support to the one time close proximity of those families. I can not prove (to my satisfaction) that Samuel Goff is the son of James Goff. Samuel and Eliza stayed in Georgia, while James, and his son William and the rest of the Goff's seemed to have moved on to Mississippi. Dates support the idea that Samuel is the son of James and brother of WIlliam, but geography suggest otherwise. Thanks for any help.

Last month I was reunited with some of my first cousins. Most of which are in/around the 70 yr mark. Anyway, our grandfather was a share cropper. I have tracked him thru many years. But the most important. 1. where and when he was born and 2. where and when he died. Now I have narrow the death date to after 1930 but before 1934. I have also found out the following. That he WAS living in Wray, GA at the time of his death And buried at Lax Community Cem (one cousin seems to think) Between 1930-1934 I need his death notice,,,,,, he was know as JIM PEACOCK. But signed documents as J W Peacock. His full name from was James Washington Peacock. Thank You
