    1. [GAIRWIN] Huxford Genetic Genealogy Conference - January 24, 2009
    2. Noles, Robert B.
    3. Hello Folks, The Huxford Genealogical Society and the Wiregrass Georgia Regional DNA Project will be hosting a one day GENETIC GENEALOGY Conference on Saturday, January 24, 2009, at the Homerville, Georgia Municipal Complex. This Conference will be your ideal opportunity to learn more about the process of obtaining a DNA test, what results can be expected, and actually providing a genetic swab (no needles or blood are required for a genetic genealogy test) for your test DNA kits will be available for purchase during the conference and assistance will be provided to complete the DNA swab. Kits will also be available if you need one or more kits for other family members who are not in attendance at the Conference. The descriptions of the tests available, and the prices for a test kit and the test are listed on the Huxford Web site. The prices for tests available to Wiregrass Georgia DNA Project participants are substantially lower than retail. Test Descriptions: http://www.huxford.com/dnatests.htm Test Prices: http://www.huxford.com/dnatestprices.htm The Huxford Webmaster and resident DNA Project Manager and the Project Administrator for the Wiregrass Georgia DNA Project, Robert B. Noles, is working with a genetic testing company, to set up this Conference. The founder and president of Family Tree DNA, Mr. Bennett Greenspan, will be the main speaker. Robert B. Noles and others will be presenting genetic genealogy testing success stories, and they will be available to take your specific questions in the afternoon. The Conference will be open to anyone who wishes to attend and is not limited to the Huxford Genealogical Society Membership. So, call 912-487-2310 or email <huxford@alltel.net> the Huxford Library today to register for this important conference for genealogists. Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn about how genetic testing is being used with great success for genealogical research. Registration for the Conference should be made as soon as possible, but no later than December 1st, 2008; space is limited. You can read about genetic genealogy on the Huxford Web site at: DNA - 101: http://www.huxford.com/Genetics.htm and review Haplogroup test results by surname for the Wiregrass Georgia Regional DNA Project at: http://www.huxford.com/Genetics_Wiregrass_Results.htm Cost of Conference: $20 for Huxford Society Members; $25 for non members Door Prizes: Genealogy reference books, a free test kit and testing, plus two free one year memberships in the Huxford Genealogical Society. If you already know you want to obtain a genetic genealogy test, you are encouraged to order your test now, so that you will have test results available before the Conference. You will be in a much better position to ask questions and understand the presentations at the Conference, if you already have your test results in hand. Bring your pedigree chart and test results with you for a one-on-one discussion with one of the experts in the afternoon session. You can order a genetic test on-line via the following link or pick up an application for a test at the Huxford Library: https://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.aspx?code=D80438&special=true Remember, your descendants 50 to 100 years from now will have your birth certificate, marriage license, death certificate, census entries, deeds, etc. and your genealogy reports, but they will very disappointed if they don't find your DNA test results.
