    3. Hope that many of you will seriously consider placing a GED copy of your family file (hopefully, with sources given) on the RootsWeb World Connect page. To check out this site, visit the address below: http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/wcmission.html The mission of the RootsWeb World Connect project is "Our mission is simple - to provide a resource which can connect the family trees of everyone in the world." Concerning your privacy, RootsWeb promises "Unlike other genealogical Web sites, you have full control over your GEDCOM (GEnealogical Data COMmunications) file at RootsWeb. You can change or remove it completely at any time. RootsWeb will never burn your file onto a CD-ROM or charge others to access it." Concerning The Privacy of Those In Your Files, they suggest the following: "You are responsibility for the contents of your file. Please be considerate when selecting your options of what will appear on the Internet. The 100-year option is the default, and was intended to protect the privacy of those still living. If you override that option, you may be placing personal information about living people online. You will also want to be considerate on which notes appear in your file. If you override the 100-year option, and are contacted by a living relative to remove their information from your file, please do so as quickly as possible." In case you don't know how to create a GED file there are directions available for various software programs on the RootsWeb site. Right now there are 11 million names posted. You may help yourself most of all. After posting my file a few weeks ago, I have had queries from a number of people who connected to one of my lines. 2. John Griffin
    3. Hello members of the Irwin Co, GA list. While re-visiting the Irwin Co page, which I had not been to in about a year I saw that y'all had added this list. Thought I would sign on for awhile and see how things go and who many be on line. I was born and raised in Washington state as my dad left Irwin Co when WWII was over and settle out west here for economic reasons. All my ancestors then on my dad's side are from South GA. I am a 23 year veteran of the Zillah School District here in Central Washington. I do the web pages for the school too, so if you want to see about our school system you can view information at http://www.destiny.esd105.wednet.edu/Zillah I have a personal web page at http://members.xoom.com/jagriffin/JAG.htm I am a member of the SCV and am webmaster for the Moultrie GA camp. You can see my work there on WBTS information at http://members.xoom.com/JKMcNeillSCVcamp/SCVhomepage.htm I have compiled many regimental histories which are posted on the web sites (list below) and also worked on a CSA curriculum, a FAQ project on the WBTS and SCV, CSA and Rev. War flag histories (illustrated) and Important CSA dates in History and also a Working With Schools project regarding teaching the true history of the CSA. These are all on line Well that is probably more than you wanted to know. Here is my big signature line showing you my family ties and research interests. You might try Edd Dorminy's page <http://members.surfsouth.com/~edormine/> for early Irwin County marriage certificate info. If your folks aren't listed there, perhaps if you e-mail Edd, he can/will advise where to try next or to whom to write. Jessie H. Mail order infor about the book is included with the list of Paulk's books at <http://www.gagenbooks.com/bookspaulkj.htm>. 2. gineil
    3. Jesse CLEMENTS and wife Margaret SMITH are in the 1850 Emanuel Co. Census. Then they appear in the Irwin Co. 1860 Census. In the 1870 Irwin Co. Census he is listed with a different birth date and a different wife. Also there is a child not listed anywhere else----J.F. (T) 20. What might the T stand for? Adoption? The other children are correct from what I have found. I guess he could have remarried and J.F. be the second wife's child, but that doesn't explain the 3 year discrepancy in Jesse's birth date. Can anyone help me? Ginny Clements

    3. I am a descendent of Michael Jordan Horn whose daughter, Annie Mae, married Charles King Chesnutt, Jr. My direct line is Mary Jane Horn and Eli Clark. I doubt if I'm giving you any new information, but I did notice when I went through the 1840 Irwin Co census that a Charley Chesnutt was on it. Quite a few of my ancestors were in Irwin in 1840, including Michael Jordan Horn and his father, Michael, and brother, Rowlen; William J. Hornsby, and more. The Horns were from Edgecomb and Nash Counties, NC. My Merritts were from Sampson Co, NC, but I don't know if they connect to those in Irwin Co, GA. Mitzi Clark Bateman

    2. Jane Benson
    3. Hello All, I am researching my Ashley family lines and am in need of data for my records on a Mr. & Mrs. W.C. Ashley who lived at Ocilla, GA, during the late 1880s & early 1900s. Most likely the initials represented the name WILLIAM CORNELIUS Ashley. I have obtained from the Archives in Atlanta a handwritten page in which the author states that Mrs. W.C. Ashley can provide the dates and other pertinent information on her family as well as that of MATT ASHLEY & NATHANIEL ASHLEY, this last of whom was born in Telfair County, GA. If any of you have access to census records and/or other resource books for Irwin County, I would greatly appreciate any information you might could help me with. Best regards, Jane Ashley Benson

    2. Jane Benson
    3. Would greatly appreciate it if someone could tell me if any record was ever made of the names contained in the old family Bible of Mrs. Lon Dickey of Fitzgerald, GA. Mrs. Dickey was a descendent of Nathaniel Ashley who died in Camden County, GA. When her house burned in somewhere around 1962, among the items lost was the big family Bible which was given to her mother, then to her from her great uncle, William Ashley of Coffee County, GA, along with an old minature of Lady Jane Cooper. IS THERE ANY RECORD OF THOSE NAMES TODAY in existence that were in that old family Bible? If so, where?

    3. I am posting this to warn others about problems with ; Census Microfilm Expeditors 476 E. South Temple , Suite 4 Salt Lake City , UT 84111 website ; www.censusmicrofilm.com e-mail ; gme@nwinfo.net and ; sj@censusmicrofilm.com I was lured to order several microfilm copies from this company with "guarantees" of "speedy delivery" and "low price" . My order was placed in October of 1998 and as of this posting I have not received the order or a refund after numerous contacts with Steven Jensen at this firm . In his occasional replies he repeatedly gave false information to me as to the status of the order and cashed the check when mentioned stopping payment on it .I have copies of all documents and correspondences for those interested . Complaints have been filed with the Better Business Bureau and the United States Postal Inspectors , they have informed me that even they can't order this company to give a refund , but may seek criminal charges . I guess small claims court is next . If you are seeking genealogy resources......consider my experiences with this "Firm". Thank you , Kenneth Sartin researching ; Sartin , Sartain , Sarton , Sarten , Sardin etc. etc.
