I received this on my Hill list at rootsweb thought I would pass it on, I have no personal knowledge of these people. HILL-L@rootsweb.com I took a minute out of our volunteer typing time to check this site out. http://www.familydiscovery.com/ It is a fraudulent site because a membership gives you links to our free sites. You do not have to pay to get to any site in USGenWeb Right here, there is no charge to get to all the counties in USGenWeb. We are all hardworking volunteers to have genealogy information free for researchers. I have found links to our Macoupin civil war rosters, censuses, which we spent many hours of volunteer time now to have unknowing researchers pay a membership to click on a link to view our work. Macoupin County ILGenWeb volunteers have put over 1400 pages of free information and continuing to work to get more pages up. If any person finds our complete work in their membership, please notify me. Please pass this information onto any list. Let's try to keep these ripoffs from making their pile of money from our volunteer work. Please pass this onto any list you might be on. Hopefully, this site will be removed soon if not sooner. Thanks for listening. Gloria Steve Hill Natchez, Ms. flacracker@peoplepc.com
GA Korean War MIA/POWs need help ----- Original Message ----- From: "B & C Pierce" <ltlbit@mindspring.com> Sent: Saturday, March 10, 2001 10:23 AM Subject: Fw: GA Korean War MIA/POWs need help I received the following message this a.m. - There are several listed for GA Counties - if any of you know families of these military personnel, please follow the instructions and provide that information ----- Original Message ----- From: Harold Keisling Subject: GA Korean War MIA/POWs need help Dear List Administrator; You will note that DNA is need on several of the service men. That is DNA from a living person who descends from the same blood line. The message below can also be posted along with the request. As a former service member I am doing everything within my power to get the message out. Feel free to modify, abbreviate, or alter this to best suit your needs. Thank you. Sincerely, Harold Keisling, Cookeville TN -----------------message follows--------------------------------- The Army has some unidentified remains of service members from North Korea. Since DNA data was unknown in the 1950s there was no profile on these personnel. The Army can now conduct DNA on the remains, but they have an incomplete database of DNA form close family members with which to compare. There are several on the list for your state and some may be from your county. Please look at the list and see if any from you county are annotated with needing DNA "Yes". If find one, look under DNA and see what relative is acceptable. Then find a relative in your area that meets this criterion and send their name, address or phone number to the following contact at Department of the Army. There is not guarantee that the missing service member from your county will be found, but thru DNA testing the Army can confirm or eliminate him as a name for the remains that they have. This is an important service that we can provide to our fellow citizens. We owe this much to our service members who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country and in the name of freedom. Let us resolve to get all of these needed DNA for our state submitted. Steps to follow: 1. Look at the state List and find people from your county 2. copy and paste the service member name or jot it down on paper so that you use the same spelling when you go to the DNA database. 3. Go to DNA database and see if they need DNA, if not then the Army has what data they need. If they need DNA then you need to find a good DNA source. 4. Look under DNA on one of the pages and it will tell you what is acceptable. 5. Develop a list of siblings, offsprings etc with addresses/phone number and send them to the e-mail address or call them into the 1-800 number. 6. The Army has its own procedure for following up and getting the DNA samples. PMKOR Data by name search: http://www.dtic.mil/dpmo/pmkor/files.htm Your state Data, select ASCII and then open in place: http://www.dtic.mil/dpmo/pmkor/statefiles.htm?State=ga&Name=Georgia Korean DB search by name DNA needed: http://www.koreanwar.org/html/korean_war_databases.html Send you data to this address or call the 800 number that is listed on the database. Posted on: Irwin County, Ga Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Irwin/10437 Surname: MERRITT, MOORE, MCMILLAN ------------------------- Thank you for your response Herman. I had seen the census data but did not realize that Louisa was living with her sister and brother-in-law. The age was wrong but that is not surprising. I had also seen a Cemetery survey but due to an error Benjamin was listed as H. F. MOORE. I thought the dates that I had were correct but probably not. Now that you have clarified what I had suspected, I have been able to add several more generations to my tree. I have a listing of Burrell MERRITT's (1774-1854) family from "Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia". It does not however list Bunyan's wife or children. The only children that I have record of is Margaret and Louisa. Thanks again for your help.

Posted on: Irwin County, Ga Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Irwin/10431 Surname: MOORE, MERRITT, MCMILLAN, TUCKER ------------------------- Am searching for information on Eliza or Louisa MERRITT. She was born about 1846 in Irwin County, Georgia. She married Benjamin Franklin MOORE in 1862 in Berrien County Georgia. I think that Louisa and Benjamin may be buried in Spring Hill Cemetery in Irwin County along with many other MOOREs. I am looking for parents or siblings of Eliza or Louisa MERRITT. They are my GG Grandparents. I have explored many MERRITTs in and around Irwin County but have not found her family. For some reason the 1850 & 1860 census does not list many MERRITTs even though I believed there were several families in IRWIN and surrounding counties.
