    3. I am a decendant of Wesley Dorminey who m. Saphronia Hunter, dau. of Elijah Hunter and Penelope Cox. I have the names of James H.'s children etc. but not much else except that James H. is the son of Jonathan Dorminy/Dorminey/Dominy who d. in Laurens Co., GA before 1826. James H. was an orphan and Benjamin Mims was appointed his guardian. I don't have a marriage record either for James H. and Nancy Hester. I feel sure she belongs to the bunch of Hesters in Laurens Co., GA. I wonder if she might have been a widow. There are lots of Nancys in GA and NC but none the right age to have married James H. - at least I have not found one. It is definitely James "H" - a friend went to the Irwin Co. Ct. Hse and looked at documents there and said it is definitely an "H". Laurens Co. legal records re his guardianship also show an "H". If you find anything on Jonathan or on Nancy Hester, I would appreciate hearing from you and if I find anything I will let you know. Barbara

I have a Nancy Branch born 1814, but I have no further information for her. Her parents were Elias Branch died 1853 in Appling Co., GA. (mother: Lucy Devaugh). Could this be your Nancy Branch who married Abraham Perry Clements? One of Elias' sons is buried here in Tift County and also another son, James Thomas Branch is buried at Hickory Springs Bapt Ch here in Tift County. So, the area is right and Nancy's age would be right to be the wife of Abraham Perry born 1811. If this is indeed the same Nancy Branch, could you tell me more about Abraham Perry Clements because I have a lot of Clements in my files and would like to put him in (and also Nancy, if this is the correct lady). Jacksonville, Ga., Telfair Co. -- I have noticed that many queries are related to the articles and pictures on my Old Jacksonville, Ga., website. As of today, 5/18/2001, there are 107 articles and 161 pictures on the site. I will post Article No. 108 this weekend. Subjects range from the explosion of the steamboat, The Gen. Manning, to a history (several articles) of the Willcoxes from Pa. to Ga., the Civil War battles of the 7th, 20th, and 49th, with attention given to the unusual military feats of the two McCrimmon brothers, John and Farquhar. Recently, the adventures of Wilson Conner, early Baptist minister, appear on the site (with a special thank you to Sid Johnson of Brewton-Parker College for letting me use generous portions from his great book, "Longpondium").
