I know that a family of Tharpe's and the family of John C. Lane settled in an area just south of Minden, Louisiana in 1863. It was named Lanesville until the turn of the century when it was changed to Sibley, LA. I have not been able to trace my direct linage beyond my Grandfather William David Lane and his wife Margaret Rae McDow other than I know his parents came from Houston County, GA. Any help would be appreciated.
