Have you looked in the marriage records for Houston Co. ? One side of my family from Houston co. is of Cherokee descent, but there are records of them as they came to Houston county in the 1820's so there should be records for your family as well. You may also want to check the Chapman roll of Cherokee who were still in GA. in the 1850's.
