Grace Davis has visited the old cemetery in Peach County (formerly part of Houston) which was the Providence Methodist Church. This was a labor of love to share with all of you, as she has no relatives buried there. The marker indicated the deed for the church was made in 1833, so it was a very early church. (Wouldn't it be wonderful to get more history of the church on-line?) If you know anything about these people buried there, I'd love to add them. I thought the inscription on the one child's monument was odd. Was I misreading it? In remembrance of the interesting MARY JANE HOWARD who was born October the 18th 1831 and died February 13th 1834 http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/peach/photos.html You can see the tombstone photos here. This is the more complete listing of the cemetery. http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/peach/cemeteries/provmeth.txt This was a survey done in 1995 by Davine V. Campbell, Guelda L. Hay, & Millie C. Stewart based on Addie Howell's work (Cemeteries and Obituaries of Houston County) We plan to also have this information posted on Arlene Woody's Peach County page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~gapeach/
