    1. Re: [GAHOUSTO] Spencer Cherry
    2. Hi Gaila, I haven't done any in depth research on Spencer Cherry. I do know that he married Nancy Akins and she is the sister of my 2gg father, Stephen Oscar Akins. Spencer and wife are buried in the Garvin and Askin Cemetery in Centerville, GA: S. C. Cherry b. 5 Oct 1809 d. 9 Nov 1878 his wife Nancy Akins Cherry: b. 24 Apr 1830 d. 30 Sep 1890 1850 Houston Co. Census: #624 Spencer Cherry 39, merchant, b. NC $1,100 Nancy 20, b. GA Napolean 1, b. GA There were 2 other Cherry families in Houston 1850 Census: #54 William Cherry 46, farmer, $150, . NC Edney 26 b. SC Wiley 4, b. GA James 2, b. GA Cornelia 4 months, b. GA #55 Riley Cherry 42, farmer, $50 b. GA Charity 31 b. GA Francis 5, b. GA James 2, b. GA With these two living next to each other, I would assume they are related? brothers? Don't know if Spencer is related to them? I believe Sandra Riner is researching William Cherry. In 1860 Houston Co. Census: #802 Spencer Cherry 51, farmer, $1,500/$200 b. NC Nancey Cherry, 30 b. GA Sarah E. Cherry 6, b. GA Nancey Cherry, 1, b. GA One other Cherry family here then Francis L. Cherry 32 minister & editor, $500/$6,800 b. NC Ann Cherry b. GA Sarah Cherry 8, b. GA Frances Cherry, 6, b. AL Eveline Cherry 4, b. AL Lunsford Cherry, 2, b. AL George Cherry, 10 months, b. AL Looks like this family resided a while in Alabama. This is all I have in my files. I'll be happy to share my AKINS records with anyone who descends from Spencer and Nancy. Barbara S.
