The W. Scofill (spelling on Census form) was 21 years old when this Census was done on June 11, 1860. He is listed last on the form. In the household of Chesley Scofill, 54, Jinsey, 48, Jacob, 14, Mary E. 10, and W. Scofill, 21. I really don't know how to read these Census Reports, I just try to copy the Spellings as I see them. I've been told they are not always correct. The Census Taker just spelled them the way it sounded to him or her. That is one of the reasons for so many different spellings, I guess. By the W. Scoefill being listed last in the household, after the children, could it possibly be that he was a brother or cousin to the head of the Household? Also, the oldest child, Jacob, was 14, and W. was 21. Since Chesley was 54, and W. was 21, could he possibly be a child of a former marriage? There are just so many questions left to find answers to. I am still trying to confirm my Minnie Mae Schofield. ( as my Mother spelled her name). Thanks, Evelyn
