I am researching the TOUNSLEY family of Perry, Houston County. I have quite a bit of information on this line but have few details on JOB TOUNSLEY, the first person of this family to come to GA who eventually settled in Houston County, early late 1790s/early 1800s. JOB TOUSLEY (without the "N") was from Salisbury, CT and served in the Revolutionary War; I have lots of information on this period of his life. I don't know why his name became TOUNSLEY. Job TOUNSLEY appears on the 1790 York County, SC census. He must have moved there about 1788/89, then moved into GA to help drive the Indians westard into what became Alabama. He is on the 1800 GA census. Michele Heiderer
Marilyn, There was a large settlement in Jones County, where the notes say the group came from CT. Were the Tounsley's part of this migration. I may have read about it in the History of Jones County, Georgia. The settlement was in Clinton from memory.
