OOOOHHH Michelle, Addie is not elderly, lol, this email may wake the list up. More likely her ISP isn't working or she is out surveying a cemetery. She could be out looking for salt and pepper shakers or walking the Centerville Mall at 6:00am, I have Addie's number if it is urgent, but I have sent the information to Virginia privately. I am hopeful that Addie and Don are well and just busy, Gaila ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marilyn M Heiderer" <kellen2000@juno.com> To: <GAHOUSTO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, October 30, 2003 2:32 AM Subject: Re: [GAHOUSTO] Addie Howell > Virginia, > > Why don't you contact the publisher of her most recent book? Addie is alive and kicking. She published one book Privately, the "Cemeteries and Obituaries of Houston County". this is only available through her. Others that she worked on were published through Central GA. Gen. Society and are only available through CGGS. Don't think that she was involved in a republication except for the CGGS reprint of the "First Hundred and Ten Years of Houston County, Georgia" but could be mistaken. Addie are you out there??
Hello Everyone, You are way too quiet, but luckily for us Billy Mills is still working away, finding information for and about Houston County. Billy has shared with the Houston County web page, information on a book about Mercer University and Houston Female College. Rather than tell you everything here, mosey on over to the Houston County, Georgia web page http://www.rootsweb.com/~gahousto/ Third Column, under the heading Schools of Houston County. Then link to Houston Female College. I also have information on the Howard School near Byron and I would be happy to add that very soon. But perhaps others could send in information and share with Houston County Researchers. I had a short trip down to Perry this year and got no new research on Houston County, can't just copy out of books, so I am imploring you to send information for the webpage. Good Hunting for those Houston County ancestors, Regards, Gaila

All persons wishing to purchase a first rate farming plantation, will do well to call and look at my settlement in the 6th district of Crawford county, and part of Houston for I have been thinking of moving to the West for some years, and and the lice having destroyed my present crop, I am determined to sell, if I can get two-thirds the value of my lands. Although the times are dull, and land low, I have got below the times in my price. I have 1164 acres of first rate pine land mixed with oak and hickory. I have two gins, a thrasher and fan, two gin-houses, two sets of gear, one set of black-smiths tools, one safe, three scythes, all to go with the settlement. There are 300 acres of open land in good order, with good buildings and good orchards. BENJAMIN BARNES. It is not marked. Lovie Shirah is also buried in what is also currently Peach County in the Hancock cemetery. Jeff Shirah, his sister and I tried to find this one a couple of years ago but the area has changed so much due to a sewer/water line being put through that we could not find it. It is located in the wooded area south east of where Watson Blvd./247 Connector crosses I-75 near Centerville. It took a 4-wheel drive to get in when we went. We had a guide who knew where it was but it still eluded us.
