Thanks Barbara, you`re right I am researching William Cherry we are sure him and Spencer are brothers they both came from Washington Co and Spencer sold William some land. William is such a common Cherry name That we thought we would research Spencer and see what we can find that way. Gaila and I are first cousins. Barbara Thanks so much for all this information. I believe that Spencer is related to Riley and William Cherry. He sold land to William. I have the feeling - but no proof- that they are brothers. Sandra and I are cousins and thought we might find more information on Spencer, because tracking William Cherry is very difficult. There were so many William Cherry's. Thanks again for your assistance. Kind regards, Gaila I haven't done any in depth research on Spencer Cherry. I do know that he married Nancy Akins and she is the sister of my 2gg father, Stephen Oscar Akins. Spencer and wife are buried in the Garvin and Askin Cemetery in Centerville, GA: S. C. Is anyone researching Spencer Cherry b 1809. He married in Houston County and I believe he is buried there. I wonder if anyone knows who his parents were? Siblings? Thank you, Gaila

This reminds me of my great Aunt. When I asked her where family members lived before they came to Georgia she said "Oh honey they have always lived here." This was 15 years ago and today I think maybe she was right because I still can't find out. UFO's maybe?

Tamie, Sorry, I don't know where Col Joseph Howard came from. If I come across anything, I will let you know. Where are your Winn and Johnson lines from? Hello everyone, I was thinking about my Howard family in Georgia. Since so many families migrated together, I thought it might be an idea to share information about migration patterns. Michael Howard b 1793, South Carolina...we believe our Michael may have been in Jones County in 1820 census, but we know he moved and owned land in Pike County during the 1820's. He was living in Houston County on the 1830 census after buying land from Hampton H. Howard. He died in Houston County in March, 1851. Associated families and collateral lines :Lisenby,Hatfield, Hester, Johnson, Sledge, Sullivan, Doles, Thompson, Hutto, Busby, Winn, Schofield, Christmas, Bassett Relationships we would like to clarify: David Howard in Jones County in 1820, Hampton H. Howard of Houston County, Caroline Howard Eubanks, and Asa Howard in Pike County. Two biggest questions: Which district of SC was Michael from? What was his wife Tempestia's maiden name? I have several other families to share, but it would be great if you can share your questions and/or information with the List. Good hunting, Gaila
Hello Terre and thanks for letting us link to your pages. These post card images are great. The web page has a link to Terre's pages and you can "stroll" onto three pages and use your browser return button to come back to the Houston County Web page. Some of us grew up in Houston County or visited there, but for those of you who have roots in Houston County and Perry, Georgia but have never been for a visit...well here's your opportunity for a cyber visit. Hello I have updated the Web page. Mostly changing the format for the photo section, so that we can add text about the photos in the table. I have to apologize to the sender of the photo for Stephen Oscar Akins. Please send me a few words about the gentleman and the photo, so that I can add it to the table. I have not been able to locate your email. (Moving is so much fun!) Others must have some photos to share - old (or new ones of the towns or areas of Houston County - old postcards would be nice too. If there are any other items you would like to see on the web page, send your ideas, requests or compilations and I will put them on the web page. Thanks again to Billy Mills for the LDS film numbers. He went to a great deal of trouble to share that information with us and save us valuable research time. It isn't often that someone gives you the gift of time these days. It is appreciated by all of us, I am sure. Good hunting, Gaila
