    3. Good to hear about the Houston County Heritage book project. That will give me enough time to trace some of my ancestors and then provide you with my family story and photos. I'm real excited about this project and I bet a lot of others are also! Who is going to write the book besides the folks who send in their family information? The meetings are held at 7:00pm the third Thursday of the month, at the Flint Electric Bldg. 1600 Elberta Road, Warner Robins. Have you made your first trip to the Washington Memorial Library yet? 3. Yes, please Mrs. Howell, tell us about the book that is being planned on the old families of Houston County, Georgia. I thought maybe there was already such a book out, but I couldn't find it anywhere. Is this one going to be written by the same lady that did the Land So Dedicated book or are you or someone else going to write it? I bet it will be a big job to put a book like that together. 3. Hi You should also check Bibb County records. I don't know why some folks got married in Perry and other in Macon, but I would have a look there too. I checked Crawford County, but there is only a Elijiah Perryman marr. Eliza Collins on 2 Aug 1887 I always check these three nearby counties. Good luck, Gaila I have been told Marquis (Marcus ? ) PERRYMAN was listed in the 1850 Houston County census. Would you look in the 1840 and 1860 census for any PERRYMAN families? If this is too much, just look in the 1840. Should I ask for a marriage lookup for Marcus A. Perryman and Sarah Anna Elizabeth JOHNSON in another E-mail? Thank you for providing this service. Joan

    3. Hi JD Boy wouldn't a book like that be wonderful. I have a few families to add. The CGGS and also books by Billy Mills and William Henry are available through the Genealogy society. I am sure information about all of these things is on the Web page. Billy Mills has a book that is on the Houston County Web Page: "Eyewitness Accounts of Houston County, Georgia, 1821-1871". by William A. Mills Of the first and early citizens of the town, whom I remember are: Howell Cobb, Dr. E. T. McGehee, James E. Duncan, Edward Welch, William Wellborn, Johnson Wellborn, Peter V. Guerry, John M. Moore, James M. Kelly, John M. Allen, Charles H. Rice, Asa Royal, Bentley Outlaw, John Chain, Isaiah Chain, Levin F. Chain, Arthur A. Morgan, Michael E. Madden, Dr. Reese, Dr. McKinney, William H. Rudd, Kent, Phineas Oliver, Nathaniel Quick, Joshua Pattishall, Littleton Spivey, and Edwin Monger. I remember also: Esquire Lewis, John J. Owens, David O. Smith, and Richard Smith, who lived on Mossy Creek; Hardy Hargrove, W. P. Bryant, S. S. Bryant, R. W. Baskin, and Isaac C. West, near West's Bridge on the Hayneville road; Joseph Tooke, George Williams, Dr. C. F. Pattillo, Henry Wimberly, William S. Coalson, E. K. Hodges, and Terrell Perry, at Hayneville; John Laidler, Patrick Smith, and David M. Brown, near Hickory Grove; William Brown, S. D. Henderson, and James Fitzgerald, near Henderson; H. B. Hathaway, at old Centreville; Silas Rawls, S. C. Bryant, Thomas Johnson, Rev. Samuel Jenkins, Rev. Benjamin Webb, in the Upper Fourteenth District; James A. Everett, Rev. Enos Young, R. H. Slappey, Allen Wiggins, and Edgeworth, at and near Fort Valley; Carlton Wellborn, Joel Walker, and Feagin, near Wellborn's Mills and Ferry; Dupree, Alexander Smith, Needham Smith, John Tomlinson, Rev. Thomas Speight, William Haddock, Rev. J. A. Roquemore, James A. Bryan, H. L. Dennard, Allen Sutton, Baldwin Higgs, and Benjamin Bryan, between Mossy Creek and the river; Simon Bateman, Cullen Talton, Shadrach Dennard, John Killen, Pifash Jenkins, Neil Smith, James Dean, James H. Killen, and Williamson Crawford, near Perry." Have a look at the Web page and perhaps join the CGGS one night at a meeting and speak to a few people there. I am a member, but I can never make the meetings because I live so far out of town. Good luck with your research, Gaila ----- Original Message ----- From: J. N. 3. Hi J.N. There is no book on Families of Houston Co as yet but one is being planned soon. You might want to join the Central Georgia Genealogical Society, PO Box 2024 Warner Robins, Ga 31099-2024. $20.00 a year. You get a monthly newsletter and four Quarterly a year. Queries are free to members. You stand a good chance of finding others who are looking for people of Houston Co that might be able to help you. Addie "J. N.
