I certainly have come across a lot of "varied" spellings, and don't doubt that I should be checking for a Mathis connection. I believe there is a connection between Alexander and some of the other Heard County Daniels . . . .just don't know where. I have seen one reference to Alexander (I think on an LDS search) that gave his name as Alexander Isaac Daniel - but everywhere else, and in all the family notes we have, he is Alexander P. Daniel. I don't know the middle names for all the children of Alexander, but three of them - Criswell (said to be the name of Amanda's paternal grandmother), Anderson, and Eldridge sound like surnames. I don't know where the (Lucy) Eldridge and (John) Anderson would fit, however. I am going to check out the website you posted! Thanks again for your input.
