Many bonds and court records are written as Matthews not Mathis, but when I go look at the record the names are signed "MATHIS" This is my Mathis - Daniel connection....cut and past... David Daniel was born on 6 Oct 1804 NC. David died abt 1870 Shongaloo, Webster Parrish, La. He married Nancy Mathis born abt 1810 Ga. David and Nancy appeared on the census of 1850 Choctaw Co, Miss #822, Pg 64. David Daniel has been linked as a son of Littleton Daniel of Chatham Co, NC who migrated to Washington Co, GA then Heard Co, GA. This is probably correct but lacking absolute proof. Children of David Daniel and Nancy Mathis were as follows: Isaac Littleton, b. 21 Apr 1831 at Heard Co, GA; married Elizabeth Mullins in Choctaw Co, MS., Martha; b. circa 1836 in Heard Co, Ga; married ?? Wodd., Thomas; b. circa 1838 in Heard Co, Ga; Never married; d. 20 Feb 1877 at Shongaloo, Webster Parrish, La; John Ed, b. circa 1840 at Heard Co, Ga; married Elizabeth Tillery., Sarah; b. circa 1842 at Heard Co, Ga. , Elizabeth; b. circa 1844 at Heard Co, Ga., Josephine; b. circa 1848 at Choctaw Co, Miss., Andrew Jackson, b. 12 Dec 1850 at Choctaw Co, Miss; married.
