Yes. I went away for the computer for a minute then said to myself "Well, shoot ! That has to be doctor ! Oh, well, you know those crazy census takers and their spelling ! At the moment I was looking at it, I couldn't figure out what the heck it was....... ----- Original Message ----- From: Larealia <larealia@charter.net> To: <GAHEARD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, November 21, 2003 8:22 PM Subject: Re: [GAHEARD] Charley and Hugh Mickle > Jane, He was a physician on another census, so do you think maybe that could > be doctor? Thank you. I will try to locate that census image. Larealia
Jane, I found it on Ancestry census images. Thanks for the help. Also I can see the problem in reading the writing. The t had a cross way off to the side plus it had a k in it. Besides that, I'm used to all my folks being farmers. Charles Mickles' mother, Lydia, was the sister of my ancestor, John Prior Anderson. They were from Randolph Co. I am tracing down every possible lead in search of something to prove John Prior's parents. He was out of the household by 1850, and several siblings were still with their parents. I went to Texas community a couple of weeks ago trying to locate a Mrs. Joyce Mickle Long who was Charles Mickle's granddaughter. I located her home, but I found that she is in a nursing home possibly around Birmingham. Then I went to see a Mrs. Jones that her neighbor told me looked after Mrs. Long's place only to discover that Mrs. Jones is in a nursing home herself now. I'm telling you all this on the off-hand chance that you might know how I could locate Mrs. Joyce Long or some of her family. She lived very near a church and cemetery where the Mickle family was buried. I believe it is Prospect Church. Also there was a road right beside the church that was named Jim T. Mickle Rd. Jim T. was a son of Charles Mickle. I know this is more than you ever wanted to know about these people. Thanks again, Larealia
If the Birmingham you are referring to is the one in AL, I just might possibly be able to help you locate her but it is a slim chance at best. I'll get back to you if I am successful but it may be some time so don't give up hope. ----- Original Message ----- From: Larealia <larealia@charter.net> To: <GAHEARD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, November 21, 2003 8:45 PM Subject: Re: [GAHEARD] Charley and Hugh Mickle >I went to Texas community a couple of weeks ago > trying to locate a Mrs. Joyce Mickle Long who was Charles Mickle's > granddaughter. List: I apologize for that last email I just sent concerning the Mickle and Anderson families. I thought I was sending it directly to Jane. Larealia
