    1. [GAHEARD] Re: Heard County, Georgia Cemeteries - and SIMONTON, DANIEL, JONES connection?

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Bd.2ADE/701.1.3 Message Board Post: Carolyn - Maybe you can help me with a Simonton question. There is a connection between my husband's family and mine, but I can't figure out exactly what it is. My grandmother and his mother were distant cousins, and I believe it is somehow the SIMONTON - DANIEL connection. Nona Simonton married Alfred N. Jones, and one of their daughters was my husband's mother. Rebecca Criswell Daniel was my great-grandmother. Martha Daniel and Missouri Daniel were her sisters, and both married Simontons. I believe that Nona was descended from one of those, but have not been able to find out just who/how/when. These details about the Salem cemetary might be helpful to you . . . Dicey Ann Simonton 1842-1932 is buried next to James Simonton 1846-1915. Clementine is near them, dates on tomb 18 (or 13?) Nov. 1856 - 28 Jan 1926. Inez Simonton, wife of E. J. Patterson, 13 June 1895 - 14 June 1913. Nona Z. 1880 - 1940 and Alfred N. Jones 1873 - 1930 are buried near the Simontons, and there is also Claude B. Simonton 6 Feb 1892 - 29 Aug 1911. Samuel Simonton "died Feb. 23 1901, age 49" is buried next to Mattie SIMONTON JUSTUS 31 Mar 1859 - 5 Nov 1935. (This would be Martha Daniel . . .? I was unaware she'd married a Justus after Samuel died, but I guess that is what that means?) Missouri Daniel Simonton 1845 - 1911 is buried next to Alexander and Amanda McComb DANIEL, parents of Martha and Missouri. Amanda's parents Andrew and Zilphey MCCOMB are also buried at Salem. Their graves have the big granite "box" type tombs; one side of Andrew's has fallen down, and my husband and I hope to fix that in the next few months. All of the above names and dates are from my notes I took at the cemetary about two weeks ago, and I "think" I have it all correct. Martha and Missouri had a sister named "Zylphia", as did Amanda, but I find it spelled every way you can think of. If you can tell me the names of Martha Daniel Simonton's children/grandchildren, and perhaps Missouri's also if you know, I'd appreciate it so much!
