The local Heard County, Georgia newspaper "The News and Banner" ( newspaper issue of April 21, 2004) has an article about the Centralhatchee First Baptist Church Homecoming and a Ceremony for confederate soldiers buried there. The Homecoming and ceremony is scheduled for May 2, 2004. This is a transcription of the article in the newspaper about this upcoming event: "Centralhatchee First Baptist Homecoming/Ceremony The Centralhatchee First Baptist Church will celebrate Homecoming 2004 on Sunday May 2. A Memorial Service will begin at 10:00 AM. Following the 11:00 AM worship service there will be a ceremony honoring the 15 Confederate veterans buried at Centralhatchee. A Confederate Honor Guard will be present to deliver military honors. A special invitation is given to the descendants and relatives of these men of valor: John Brittain Akins James K.
