This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Shaver Stephens Shelnut Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Bd.2ADE/727 Message Board Post: Looking for additional information on Shaver family. My grandmother Rosa Belle Shelnut ( Shellnut, Shelnutt ) Hobby was apparently born in Heard Co. I have been unable to find additional information on her mother Lumina ( Lula ) Shaver.(B 3 Jun1861, died 13 Sep 1939) A letter sent to Rosa from Susie Stephens dated 1934 and postmarked Franklin, GA confirms that Susie was a cousin. Her mother Fannie Shaver was apparently sister to Lumina Shaver. Census records say Lumina was born in GA but I have been unable to find a further connection in GA for Lumina. Family says her name was Nancy Susannah Lumina Shaver but that is all I have. Lumina was known as 'Aunt Lu' to her associates in Saline Co. ARK where the family moved to in 1892. James Wiley Shelnut and Lumina were living in Black Angus, Heard Co., GA in the 1880 census and all of their children were born in GA before their move to Ark. Lumina may have been born in AL as I have found Shavers there (but not in GA) in the 1880 census. Can anyone help? Thanks, Larry Hobby
Larry, Do you know anything else about your Stephens in Heard Co. Ga.? I have Stephens that were there. Mine was a Stephen Stephens, and his wife, Mary, Barron or Barrow. He was born in 1773 in N.C., and was the son of George Stephens, and they migrated to Jasper Co. Ga., and Stephen and Mary died in Heard Co. Ga. His brother, Solomon and several of Stephen Stephens sons, migrated on over to Randolph Co. Al. Just wondered if there was a connection.
