Randy gave a good explanation about these communities. I had never thought about the mail route as being connecting links -- stronger than county lines! That would be a good thing to keep in line whenever we're researching towns that lie on county lines. From Randy: Not only is Shiloh adjacent to the northwest corner of Talbot County, the Shiloh post office mail route covers quite an area of Talbot County. That has been true for many years, at least back to the early 1900s. In addition, that part of Harris County was originally Talbot County (for the first year or so after ceation in the 1820s), and in the 1850s, I think, a further small area in the Shiloh area was moved from Talbot to Harris County.
