To Mary & any others interested in when & how the town of Chipley became Pine Mountain: I searched the Legislative Documents on the Galileo online database (has legislative docs from the 1700's to present] and found the following item which gives the date. It does not give the reason for the change but I suspect it had to do with the mountain being more marketable to the tourist trade. The Chamber of Commerce would probably be able to give a more definitive answer.
