Hello everyone, For those who missed my previous post, I am writing a Regimental History on the 17th Georgia Infantry. I am trying to locate any descendants of the soldiers and officers in order for them to be aware of the book. Harris Co., along with 6 other counties, was included in the enlisting counties for that regiment. If you have an ancestor who fought in the Civil War and served in the 17th and would like to include anything in the book please email me at [email protected] The book will include all mentions of the 17th in the Official Records, better known as the OR Vols., a complete Roster of each company, chronological order of the battles, photos, letters, diaries, brief genealogy, burial place, abstracted compiled service records and pension records. I will have a chapter specifically for photos. I have also located a re-enactors unit that depicts the 17th Ga. Inf. Co. K out of Columbus, Ga and will have an introduction to the unit.
