I'm working with Deborah to find out more about this old family cemetery. Does anyone have any information on this one and could give us some directions to post with it? since this was a family cemetery, it probably is not very large....so I'm hoping we can collect the names.... deborah samra" <debsamra@charter.net> MOYE FAMILY BURIAL GROUND (Old Moye Place) (partial listings) Cash, Catherine ? - 12/29/1923 (wife of Chesley Jackson Cash) (Death Certificate signed by Willard Brown of Chipley GA) Cash, Chesley Jackson (husband of Catherine Cash) Virginia Crilley
Dear list members, I need help locating information, clues, documents, and researchers on the McCollum Family that lived in Harris County, Georgia around 1845. I don't have access to census records for that county, so I'm interested in knowing about anyone who was found living in that County between 1840-1850. My 3rd great-grandfather, Isaac McCollum, married Lucy M. Oliver on September 23, 1845 (record dated Sept. 22, 1845, MB 1, page 32). Isaac McCollum was born on Jan. 13, 1820, so he would have been 25 years old when he married. Therefore, he should have been living with his father prior to that date. I have no idea who his father was, so I'm hoping his father was also living in the county between 1840-1850. If anyone has any info on the census records for that timeframe, or better yet, has access to the estate records of the County to see if a McCollum died leaving an heir named Isaac McCollum, I would be forever grateful. Hello all, We need help for the cemetery in several ways: There are several that we have not located any family (even distant). When I got involved with this in May, I didn't have family there simply started this as it was the right thing to do for my community. Last month after reading some of the genealogy compiled on some of the families, found out one of my distant cousins family was buried there. We try to share as much as information as we have found with anyone who has that line. Check out the following for what we have. http://login.yahoo.com/config/login?.src=ygrp&.intl=us&.partner=&.done=http%3a//groups.yahoo.com/mygroups You can log on to it using the ID of cemetery_clapp with a password of visitor. I recently received an offer to occasionally do onsite Harris County tombstone lookups for those in other parts of the country who do not have access. I know some of you on the mailing list already do tombstone lookups on an informal basis. I am considering making a page listing volunteers who are willing to do onsite tombstone lookups on an occasional basis. I'd like to get at least several volunteers, and more than that would be better. That way, no one person would be over-burdened. I would place guidelines at the top of the page to minimize the possibility of unreasonable requests and the volunteers would have input in drawing up the guidelines. Please contact me if this is something you would like to do. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/harris/vitals.htm Last week I announced that I had posted the Death Index for 1919-1923 --- and that file turned out to be ONLY 1920. NOW, Dianne has sent me the file again, and we do have all the years.... they are alphabetical.... so all the years (1919-1923) are in this one file... Hope this helps someone....and I would LOVE to have later years as well if anyone has access to the Death indexes. The way we get so much material on-line is when people go the extra mile --- and type up things that don't pertain to just their own family, but that will help everyone in the area. Never thing that a file you have is of no interest --- you simply can't know what researcher would benefit from it.... even by just example of where to look for something!! Virginia Crilley

I am looking for any info on John And Mary Winfield Pattillo. I know he died in 1873 and I have a copy of his will. I am interested in where they lived in Harris County and if there are any descendants currently living in the area. Jenny Cummins
Dianne Wood just donated the Death Index 1919-1923 for Harris Co. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/harris.htm This represents so much work on her part --- and I know Harris County Researchers will benefit from this. This was the first Vital Record donated.... and I'd sure love to have some Marriages - Births - Divorces.... We have new forms to help make it easier to submit information.... http://www.poppet.org/gafiles These would make submitting a marriage very, very simple.... So please do use them. The forms aren't set up right now for deaths....births --- but those will be coming soon. Virginia Crilley
Some years back, there was a show on TV that had a piece about a little girl who saw a ghost in their yard and home. She described a man down to the clothes he wore. kemis <parts snipped> Definitely not true. Sorry, I don't believe in spooks. Derrick Chapman Waverly Hall GA (Above email from Derrick) Hi , I don't believe in spooks either. But I do know these people are seeing and hearing something. My daughter and I went to the Waverly Hall Cemetery yesterday and found nothing. We stayed for a while with a tape recorder and a Dig. camera and nothing show up. The weather was cloudy and was sprinkling, but nothing else. I snapped 30 odd picture and checked them out and nothing was there, for us to see.

The Waverly Hall Cemetery has had many visitors that have claim to have seen sightings of ghosts and noise and weather changing. These people she is talking to have their own stories. We go and check them out. Wavily Hall has a huge reputation for it's Waverly Hall Cemetery being haunted. Also, it is on the Internet that Waverly Hall , Georgia is a hot spot for ghost. Even tho you do not believe in this, have you heard any of these stories and if so would you share them with us. We will check them out ourselves and report our findings on her Web Site,"Gone and Almost Forgotten Georgia". <A HREF="http://www.angelfire.com/weird2/georgia/index.html">http://www.angelfire.com/weird2/georgia/index.html</A> She has covered quite a bit of Waverly Hall, Georgia. If you know of any homes or stories, we will be glad to investigate them and report or findings. We have investigated some sightings and so far we've found nothing. But there are people who do visit and claim their findings. Some people are recording sounds at "Cry Baby Bridge", but we've heard nothing while standing on the bridge or even when we tried to record from the bridge. Other people have recorded a child's voice, sounds like a little by. when they asked him his name he said,"Boyd", when asked his last name he replied, "I don't remember". This is what they say they recorded on the"Cry Baby Bridge." we heard the tape, heard a boy of about five or six years old say the name Boyd. I heard the tape, we were not at the bridge with them and when we went back to the Bridge, nothing happen for us. My daughter has a picture of the Bridge on her site. We just don't know, all we can do is to listen , check it out and report it . We are investigating these sightings. If you know of any, houses or stories,we will be happy to check them out. Thanks, Sandra

The entire city is a paranormal hotspot. Waverly Hall Cemetery, located on highway 208 in the town, is a must for any ghost seeker. Apparitions, voices on tape and EVP have been recorded; cries, you name it, they've got it! I personally have experienced difficulty with my electronic equipment and have seen and heard lighting and thunder (no rain), and hurricane like winds upon entry to the cemetery, only to stop when we exited."
