The deceased was about seventy years of age, was reared in Charleston, S.C., where she in early life united with the Episcopal church ever remaining to its creeds. Her life was one of sweet sacrifice for her only brother, and his six noble sons, all who are in the ministry of the M.E. Church. Can anyone help Vivian? [see her email below]. I have already searched the GA Death Index online at Ancestry.com and cannot find the death record on the child. I hope you can help me; I am looking for the grave of my uncle, Andrew D. (David) Anderson Jr., who died as a child of some type of fever or illness. He is buried somewhere near or around Pine Mountain, GA. His grave may be marked, or unmarked. His parents were Andrew D. Anderson, and Lucille Pritchard (maiden name) Anderson. His grave may be in or near what is now Callaway Gardens. I do not have his birth dates or death dates, but they should not be before 1925, and not after 1960. (I know this is asking a lot). My father was a small child when his brother died, and has lost most of his older siblings since, and can't remember much. I would like to get any info I can for him. I thank you from the bottom of my heart! God Bless! with christian love, Vivian Gatlin jvent85@netscape.net

Kimbrough Leaves an Aching Void in Hearts and Homes, Town and County Mr. Kimbrough was born in Harris County, Tuesday, the twenty-third of February was his Fifty-Third birth anniversary. When he was a mere child, his parents moved to Talbotton, and lived in the beautiful home now owned by Mr. Roderick Leonard. Here his happy childhood was passed, tenderly beloved by a large family of brothers and two lovely sisters. His school days were spent at Collinsworth Institute. Early in his young manhood, he was married to Miss Eva Paschal of Geneva. This union was an ideal one. Mr. Kimbrough was courtly, dignified and self-poised. The memory of his gracious and gentle qualities will ever be cherished by all who knew him. For many years, he held offices in town and county, and was esteemed for his ability and faithfulness. In business he was upright, punctual and just, to the church, loyal and liberal. To his friends, staunch and true. In his domestic relations, a devoted husband, tender father, and an affectionate brother. He was ever bright, cheerful and considerate. Even unto the end, his thoughtfulness was manifested in many ways. The harmony and happiness of his home life was beautiful and impressive. On Monday afternoon, March first, his gentle spirit peacefully winged its flight. The exquisite floral tributes, and the great concourse of friends were convincing testimony that he had not lived in vain, nor wrought for self-alone. The tender service in the home, conducted by Dr. J.B. McGehee and Rev. N.C. Underwood was touching and beautiful. Dr. McGehee had known Mr. Kimbrough from boyhood. He dwelt upon the gentle and untiring ministries of the lovely wife, the mutual helpfulness and delicate courtesies of the husband and his unselfish kindliness as a father. Rev. N.C. Underwood in his earnest prayer breathed the love of a neighbor, whose heart was heavy with anguish at the loss. He invoked Gods divine guidance upon the grief-stricken ones. Mr. Kimbrough, after years of suffering sleeps on the hillside where the sunshine meets the shade. Camp, given in honor of their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lee Lucas, who since their marriage on August 12 are spending a few days here. After all the guests had arrived and many congratulations, the young ladies stood in a circle and Mrs. Lucas threw her bouquet. Miss Ida Gurr, being the fortunate one to catch it. Cards were arranged for the young ladies and men to draw for a mock marriage. Miss Pearl Bickley and Mr. George H. Byrd drew the cards with the small hearts. Mr. John W. Nov. 14 Earnest Holliday, aged twelve years, was killed by James Dowell, aged sixteen, on the 5th day of Nov. Mr. A.G. Milner gave Earnest a two-dollar bill and sent him to Cleola to buy some meat. There he met James Dowell and he decoyed him off down the railroad about three hundred yards from the depot in Mr. J.P. Becks pasture murdered him and three his body in Mulberry creek. He then took the two dollars off his body and left him. He took the money to Mr. Jno. Harris and asked to get it changed, Mr. Harris told him that he could not change it; from there he went to Mr. J.P. Suttons and wanted to get it changed, Mr. Sutton asked what kind of bill it was, he told him he did not know upon examination found it to be a two dollar bill. As Earnest did not return his mother thought he had run away and had gone to his grandfathers; after they found out that he was not there a warrant was sworn out for James Dowell on the 14th and he was arrested and brought to Cleola by bailiff Moore. A crowd of both white and blacks were gathered to search the creek and after a long search and the body was not discovered, they went back to the station and got the prisoner and he led the way to where the little boys body was found lying in the creek. Justice of the Peace B.R. Harris empanelled a jury to hold an inquest. Messrs. J.P. Sutton, J.P. Beck, Jno. Carlisle, Henry Vinson and Mercer Harris composed the jury. The verdict was that he came to his death on Nov. 5, by two blows inflicted on the left side of his head with some blunt instrument in the hands of James Dowell, crushing his skull and the same was murder in the first degree. I am reseaching Rev. Green Berry Waldrop 1794-1854. He was living in Georgia 1827-1840. He was active with the Columbus Baptist Association. He was with others on a Presbytery where he helped consitued new Churches and Ordained new ministers. Liberty Hill Baptist, Talbot County Union Primitive Baptist Church County Line Baptist Church Talbot County Rehoboth Baptist, Cataula, GA. Harris County And others. Rev. Waldrop was on the Presbytery that Ordain C.C.Willis the minister of Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. Willis be came the minister of Bethel Baptist Church on Flat Rock Road, Columbus, Georgia, Muscogee in 1840. I have Rev. Green Berry Waldrop acording to the Columbus Baptist Association as minister of Bethel Baptist Church from 1832 until 1840. He is listed with the Bethel Baptist Church in Talbot County, Georgia , ane he is mention in the 1829-1840 Columbus Baptist Church as minister 1832-1839 in the Bethel Baptist Church. He is mentioned in Rev. C.C. Willis's book about Bethel Baptist Church on Flat Rock Road. Muscogee County, GA. How can I find if the Columbus Baptist Association is talking about Rev. Green Berry was minister to Bethel in Talbot or Bethle Baptist on Flat Rock Road or Both?. I wonder if he traveled back and forth on different Sundays and preached at both of the Bethel Baptist on Flat Rock Road and Talbot County. In the book about the Bethel Baptist Church on Flat Rock Road, Muscogee County, in Rev. C.C. Willis's Book, Rev. Green Berry is spoken with affection in calling him their Beloved Pastor. Correction: In the below message I said Howard Community was in Harris County, but I reread Virginia's message and Howard Commuity is in Taylor County, Georgia. I am sorry for the mistake. Sandra Hi Lee, Thank you so much for your help. Altho it helps, it makes it a bit more confusing. So as the Captains name's changed, so did the Captain 's District. I've have wonderful instructions as to how visit Harris County and maps from Virginia Crilly. Virginia wrote me that Howard was a community in Harris County. I am trying to pin Howard down so I will know where the Land (1827) might have been. I am trying to zero in on my gr grandpapa's land and Virginia Crilly has gone above and beyond her duty. Rex2 of Harris County has been a great help also with his knowledge of Harris County. There are no maps with Howard Community, I wonder if anyone remembers Howard Community in Harris. Thank you for your reply and helping me. Sandra maiden name Waldrop Geoergia

Mr. Burts death was caused from kidney trouble. While he has long been a sufferer, his condition had not been alarming until a few days before his death. Mr. Burts was well-known to the people of this section as the father of the Cataula camp meeting, which institution he, more than anyone else, had fostered and maintained even after the custom of holding camp meetings had been almost abandoned elsewhere throughout the South. When a few years ago the Cataula campground was moved from its old location to where it is at present situated, Mr. Burts gave the site, erected several of the tents and in other ways fostered it. Had it not been for him, the supporters of the institution have often said, the Cataula camp meeting would have long since gone the way of the others. Mr. Burts was a large planter, owning a large tract of land in Harris County. He was a conscientious Christian gentleman, a member of the Methodist church, and a zealous worker. Two daughters, Mrs. E.H. Almond, of Columbus, and Mrs. E.M. Whiting, survive him. The funeral took place at the Pierce Chapel Church near Mr. Burts late home on last Monday afternoon and was very largely attended. He had many friends and relatives in Talbot County who greatly deplore his death. This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.0 Kb
