    1. [GAHARRIS] Need 1850 Census look-up for Alexander Teal/Teel
    2. Would it be possible for someone to look-up an actual 1850 Harris Co. census for the following family? I believe that this family, as listed on p. 161 in Barfield's "History of Harris Co", is incorrect (at least I hope so!). If this is not possible, can anyone provide a web-site for the Harris Co. GA 1850 census? Young B. A. WRIGHT (p. 161 shows W. B. A. WRIGHT), wife Mary and children living in the Whitesville district. I would appreciate names and ages. Young B. A. WRIGHT married Mary "Polly" HUEY (d/o of Samuel Huey and Sarah Hagans/Hagins). Many thanks, Adrienne in California

    3. Is anyone researching the name NUNNELEE in Harris County??? Does anyone know if there are any records of Harris County school teachers circa 1850's???? I am trying to find information on my gg-g/parents Walter and Annie NUNNELEE with known children Eugene L. born 1847, James, Annie and Cornelia. Eugene enlisted in CSA at Auburn, Al in 1862 and after the war he moved to Texas - he went by 2 names: "E.L." and "Lavarsha" ; James may have also served in CSA and may also have moved to Texas; Cornelia was supposed to be an accomplished pianist and may have moved to Chicago, Illinois or Dallas, Texas; no info on Annie (mother or daughter).

    2. Jackie Hines; Re: "History of Harris County" Whe was the author? I wrote the author of one history, who told me that it was out of print. Found a copy at library which only mentioned Wade Beck , nothing of his father John Patterson B ( his father) or his grandfather James C Beck who moved from Talbot to Harris Co after 1860. Would your "history" have more on the Beck families? Any help appreciated Oscar Stelin Beck

    3. Debbie, First....Sorry about the first message. Accidently hit send button before I got started. Second...The Index comes with the second edition, edited by the author's daughter about 5 yrs. ago. She made index. I have both editions. The Index will not match the first edition. Third....There is only one reference to Mabel Hurt under her maiden name. It gives line under "Cone-Pollard" (Family Record by Mrs. J.R. Meadows, Macon, GA) There is no date. If you don't have this page, you sure do need to have a copy. I don't mind hand typing or will send a hard copy if you want to give me your address. It is possible that you might find them on a census. Some of line was in Greene Co. and some of line was in Macon. You might also get some info from Wesleyan College, Macon, Ga. I will copy this much now: "...Sarah Frances Pollard b. 8-20-1830, d. 2-27-1859 m. John Fletcher Cone b. 12-6-1816, d. 1-12-1855 (son of Wm. and Rebecca Cone of Greene Co.., GA), 1846. Issue: Mary Cone b. 1847, attended Wesleyan College, Macon, Ga. 1860-1861, m. Charles D. Hurt, M.D. Issue: Charles Davis Hurt m. Annie Gray Issue: Mabel Hurt m. Mark P. Pentcost (sic), M.D. Issue: Mark P. Pentcost, Jr. m.. Martha Mann Jean Pentcost m. Lloyd F. Timberlake, M.D. Anne Pentcost m. John Rucker Todd, III ..." As you can see this is not the beginning or end of the page. It is 1 and a quarter pages plus title page if you want it. Will copy for return of two 34 cent stamps which would cover copies and postage. Jackie Hines ................................................... Does anyone have a copy of the book: History of Harris Co., Ga. and would be willing to do a look-up? I am looking for info on this woman. Mabel Hurt Pentcost born 188? Thanks, Debbie

    3. History of Harris Co GA is a huge book with no Index. So you need to find someone with an Index to it. I have been told that there is now an Index. If there is, it was published later and separately. I assume that if someone has the Index they also have the Book itself, but if they have only the Index and tell you what page or pages you need, I have access to the Book itself. I do not think that one could find anything on Mabel Hurt Pentcost without an Index. 1. [GAHARRIS] Boyd/Wadsworth-Georgia around 1870s
    2. I am doing research on my wifes family. We have hit a brick wall before we even start because little is known about her grandmother's family. According to the Social Security application EVA PEARL BOYD was Born in TAYLOR COUNTY, GEORGIA . Eva Pearl had two brothers JOHN and BURL. On her application she list her Father as JOSEPH BOYD and her mother as NETTIE WADSWORTH. Eva was born in 1897. She later moved to Dadeville, Alabama. She also spent some time in Phenix City, Alabama before moving to Mobile, Alabama where she lived until she died in 1970. Anyone who has any information I would appreciate any help I can get. I am planning a trip to Georgia to do some research and hope to have more to work with than what I have at this time. Thanks for any thing you call offer, Donald

    3. Hi Folks! I have been taking care of the GenConnect boards (queries, obits, bios, wills, pensions, etc) for Harris county for awhile now. I need to cut back on some of my work load. So, is there anyone on this list that is willing to help Barbara, the county coordinator, by taking over the management of these lists? Since this is Christmas Eve, I will wait until the first of the year to ask Rootsweb to put these boards up for adoption. In the meantime, if you would like to do this, write to me at [email protected] and I can change them over for you and send you the info you need to know as adminstrator. There is more info below. 1. [GAHARRIS] JAMES C. HURLEY-MARY EMMA SNELL ALONZA BINNS SNELL-MAMIE I. DANSFORD
    2. Nancy Protzman
    3. Hello, Fellow Researchers, I have questions about several "disappearing" relatives. James C. Hurley and his wife, Mary Emma Snell, were married in Pike Co., AL in the 1870's. They appear in the 1880 Pike Co., census with three children. I lose track of them after that, and they aren't in the Pike Co. Tomb Records. Since many of our Snell family lived in Muscogee (quite a few in Columbus) and Harris Counties, I wonder if the Hurleys moved there. Mary Emma apparently died fairly young and I don't know if her husband remarried. Alonza Binns Snell died in Columbus in 1926 at the age of 55. I don't know what happened to his wife, Mamie Dansford Snell. Alonza is buried in Double Churches cemetery, but there is no record of Mamie. I found her in several Columbus city directories after Alonza's death, but then she disappears. It's possible that she remarried. Any ideas will be welcome. Nancy
