Henry Bates of Mineola, TX (apparently one of many!). searching native american files: my grandfather Charlie was adopted and was 1/2 choctaw or creek. we need her records to find out. Charlie was not the son of Wm., name only. Elizabeth was extremely well educated, owned many out of ordinary items for plainswoman of east texas,(carved ivory candle sticks, german nickle-ware, many books) was tall, black hair, blue eyes.
