    3. John, On the 1820 Hall Co. census, the name of the district that John Martin resides in is Capt. Elias Miller's District (not Oliver MIller). If you look about eight names above John Martin, you will see Elias Miller. The number at the bottom is not the GMD number, but rather the total number of persons in the district. There are no GMD numbers on this census. I'm not familiar with the names in Miller's District, so I can't make a guess at which GMD this is. I'm not sure of any records that might help determine the GMD for this district. Your best bet will be the deed records. Even if he didn't own land, you can look up one of his neighbors. Hi Dan, Thanks for the info that you gave me about the origination of Hall Co. I believe you have totally cleared up the matter. (I feel that the amount of land given by Jackson & Franklin counties was probably a small percentage with respect to the amount from the Indian Lands.) My original query stated that I was interested in the John Martin family found in the 1820 census of Hall Co in the Oliver Miller District, Dist #615 ( I didn't include the Dist# in my original query). I looked at your maps at http://www.rootsweb.com/~gahall/hcmili.jpg but didn't see that number shown. I found the Martin family listing on the Hall Co site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~gahall/cenlook.htm (click way down to the Martins). Thanks again for straightening out the Hall Co originations, and can you locate Dist #615?
