    3. Dear Friends and Relatives: I found this attached to my system folder. I followed instructions and got rid of it--I hope!!! A kind Ward relative alerted me, and I appreciate it, Donna. :Helen Ward Anderson Subject: virus warning Date: Fri, 10 May 2002 09:50:39 -0500 From: [email protected] To: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], n/[email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], IMPORTANT: I just got this message today and checked and I did have the virus, so make sure to see if you have it and then follow instructions to delete it below. My address book had abeen infected by a virus and likely has passed it on to yours... even without opening attachmetns... just by being in my address book. The firuse called jdbgmgr.exe is not detected by Norton or McAfee anti-virus systems. The virus sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the system. It is sent automatically by the messenger and by the address book whether or not you sent emails to your contacts. I have checked, found it, and deleted it. Here is how to check for the virus and how to get rid of it. DO THIS: 1. go to Start; Find or Search option 2. In the files/folder option write the name jdbgmgr.exe DO NOT OPEN IT. 3. Be sure you search your C; drive 4. Click "find now" 5. The virus has a teddy bear icon with the name jdbgmgr.exe DO NOT OPEN IT 6. Right click and delete it. It will then go to the recycle bin. 7. Go to the recylce bin, and delete it there as well. IF YOU FIND THE VIRUS, YOU MUST CONTACT ALL THE PEOPLE IN YDOUR ADDRESS BOOK.

    3. List Subscribers, This mailing list is not the place to be discussing viruses or hoaxes. Please do not send warnings of viruses to this mailing list. If you believe you have received a virus that appears to have come from this mailing list, or it appears that subscribers to this list are sending viruses, then please contact me directly. If there is a need to warn subscribers, then I will make that decision. Whenever you receive a warning of a virus, or think you have been sent a virus, you should always check the antivirus websites to verify it before passing along any warning to others that you correspond with. A good place to check is the Symantec website: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/vinfodb.html/ In the case of this recent warning, it tells you to delete the file jdbgmgr.exe If you go to the above website and search for that filename, you will find that it is described as a hoax.
