It doesn't state WHEN he died, but I assume it was in the late 1950's. Here's what it says (verbatim including spelling errors): I assume this was printed in the Gainesville Times. Heading: Area Obituaries Thomas Jefferson Land Thomas Jefferson (Jeff) Land, 76, Gainesville route 9, died Tuesday night at his residence after an extended illness. Mr. Land was born in Union County, but lived most of his life in Hall County. He was a member of the Antioch Methodist Church for 50 years. He was a retired miner and farmer. Mr. Land was an Odd Fellow and a member of the Redmen. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. from the Antioch Methodist Church with the Rev. J.D. Booth, Rev. Roger Tankersley, and Rev. Dorsey Freeland officiating. Interment will be at the church cemetery. Surviving are his wife: Mrs. Myrtie Land, Gainesville route 9; two sons: George and Claude Land, both of Gainesville; two daughters: Mrs. Leila Tankersley and Mrs. Kate Tankersley, both of Gainesville; one brother: Lee Land, Buford; four sisters: Mrs. Hattie Smith, Gainesville; Mrs. Georgia Black, Dalton; Mrs. Winnie Brackett, Tulsa, Okla.; Mrs. Pearlie Chitwood, Lula; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
