    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4c.2ADE/588.1.1 Message Board Post: The research I have done shows the following: Isaiah Samuel Holland was born 1824 in SC to Archibald Holland, SR ba 1790 and Nancy Puckett. Archibald Holland sold his Tugaloo River, SC land in 1824 and moved to Hall County, GA living close to where Samuel and Malissa later lived. He later moved to Cherokee CO, GA after the Chereokee Indian removal of 1832 where he died in 1848. His second wife was Sarah Kemp. The children of Archibald Holland mentioned in his will are Jacob, William, John, Isaiah, Elijah, Frankey, Cassy, Harris, and Nancy. Isaiah lived nearby in Cherokee County according to the 1840 census and showed ages of family members consistent with Isaiah Samuel Holland b 1824 and Malissa b 1820. The parents of Archibald Holland are Jacob Holland ba 1750 VA mar Mary Harrison. Mary's parents were Thomas Harrison mar Catherine "Caty" Earle? The Harrison's were close friends of the Rev John Cleveland family from Wilkes CO, NC with whom they intermarried. John's brother was Col. Benjamin Cleveland who was one of the principle American leaders at the battle of King's Mountain. Jacob Holland is known to have lived in Montgomery CO, VA from 1777 to 1785, where he enlisted in a militia company to fight Indians. He probably also fought the British in battles such as King's Mountain but the records are inconclusive. He moved to Pendleton CO, SC in 1785 along with the Cleveland and Harrison families at a time when the Tugaloo River area was claimed by both SC and Georgia. Most of the settlers in that area were receiving land grants for Revolutionary War service. He served briefly in the Georgia state legislature but when the boundary dispute was settled, his land fell in SC. Probate records in SC show Jacob Holland's children to be Benjamin, John, Hugh, Mary, Margaret, Robert, Archibald, Elijah. Jacob JR, and Rebecca. Records show that in the 1840s Archibald Holland of Cherokee CO, GA bollowed money from Robert and Jacob Holland of Anderson CO, SC. I believe that Jacob Holland was born in Anne Arundal CO, Maryland. This is based on a deed stating that he had a brother named Thomas Holland living in Tennessee. Thomas Holland of Greene CO, TN claimed that he was born in Anne Arundal, MD and had lived in Montgomery and Pittsylvanis COs, VA. There are other researchers who believe he is related to Peter Holland of Bedford CO, VA.
