My ggggrandfather, John Shaw, went to Georgia after his wife died in Duplin County, NC, after 1823. I believe he was claiming land in a land lottery. Would someone look in the cemetery inscription books and see if you find a tombstone for a John Shaw. John was born in Cumberland County, NC, the son of Colin Shaw and Sallie Marion McCraney.
