Surnames: Smith Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4c.2ADE/1695 Message Board Post: Searching for any and all leads to the parents of Elijah Hampton Smith, born 15 Aug 1887 in Hall Co. (Obit states "Newtown, GA") He migrated to the NE AL area in about 1901. The only "clue" I have to his parents is the fact that in the same cemetary plot he's buried in, there's an "I. Smith b.6 Apr 1859, d. 28 Feb 1917" I am guessing that this person is one of his parents because the age tends to indicate it. Otherwise, he had a brother named Homer (b. 1897 d. 1945), a brother named Harvey (I was told that he married "Bertie Mae", was a preacher, and lived in Chicopee or Bremen, GA), a sister named Annie Mae, who married Bob Hughes (I found an undated news article that indicated that Bob & Annie Mae lived on J Ave in Chicopee), and also a sister named Eva, who married a Parker and lived in Etowah Co, AL. The only other fragmented information I have is that "Hamp's dad lived with the Indians" at one time and he was described as a "frail, long gray bearded guy." Any leads to this family would be greatly appreciated!
