    3. Do you know if the marriage certificates show the parents of the bride and groom. This is what I have: Marriages Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia, Book C, Page 378, 10/13/1887 Wiley B. Bagwell---Lizzie Hughes. and Marriages Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia, Book C, Page 234, 12/27/1884 W. B. Bagwell--Mattie Jones (I think it should be Mattie James) However, if the certificates for that time period are not available, nor don't show the parent's names hey are not much help to me. Will appreciate hearing from you. I would not normally use information found on the list for this purpose. I live in Hall County. Last year a partner and I compiled an index of the Hall County Marriage records from 1819 to 1900. (The county was organized in December 1818, so January 1819 were the earliest marriages.) The certificates for the early marriages no longer exist unless the descendants of the couple have one. The county merely recorded the information. I believe they charge $10.00 for a copy of each record, BUT for the small price of $35.00 plus $3.00 postage, I can send you a hardbound book that contains all 7,000+ marriages that took place during that time period. The index is by groom and bride; contains the book, page and date that the marriage was recorded. Also another Hall County researcher has just completed a complete transcription of early wills. Not an abstract, but a transcription! It is indexed and a fine asset to anyone's collection. Let me know if you want more information or want either book. Thanks and happy hunting. P. S. Thomas Martin may have been one of 'our Martins.' Becky Mathews Nix Gainesville, Georgia

    3. Edwina, Marriage licenses and certificates in Georgia do not show the parents name. Here is all that is on them: 1) The license gives the name of the groom, name of the bride, the name of the person issuing the license and the date issued. 2) The certification usually gives the name of the bride and groom (but not always) , the name of the person performing the marriage and the date solomnized. Both license and certification are included together on a single document. Dan ----- Original Message ----- From: Edwina B.
