This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: CLARK Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4c.2ADE/1731 Message Board Post: Hi Ron, I tried e-mailing you and Renee but your message was returned, user unknown. Here is what I sent you: I saw your messages on Hall Co., GA and would love to find out more about William H. Clark, as I have always believed that my gg-grandfather, Caleb Clark, was related to him in someway. Through DNA testing, my brother matched perfectly with a gentleman in MS who is a descendant of Penelope JOHNSON and Christopher CLARK of Louisa Co., VA, through their son, Bolling, who married Winifred Buford. Some of Bolling's sons ended up in Pendleton District, SC, and then I believe one of them went on to -- maybe it was Wilkes Co., GA. There is LOTS of information on this Clark line on the internet and in books. We know our Caleb fits in with this family, but we haven't found where yet. I think William H. Clark is a descendant of this family, too. Caleb lived near your Clarks in 1830 Hall Co. He was successful in one of the GA Lotteries and drew land in Cobb Co., GA and was there by 1840. We haven't been able to find him in the census in 1850, but he died in Talladega (later Clay) Co., AL in 1857. His wife, Mary Mullins Clark, was head of family when the 1860 Talladega Co., AL census was taken. In 1870, she was living with her daughter, Julia Clark Dempsey. Mary died in Talladega (Clay) Co., AL in Oct 1873. I would love to trade information on the Clarks. I have found as much as I can on William H. Clark and his descendants, and will be happy to share that, too. What I would REALLY love is for Ron to participate in the Clark DNA project. It costs either $101 or $171 depending on whether you get the basic test or the test which shows a better estimate of the latest common ancestor. Since this test is only for males with the CLARK surname, my sister and I couldn't participate, but we split the cost of our brother's test. If money is a factor -- and it certainly was for me -- maybe some of your family could help. It will certainly break down some ancient brick walls for you. If you would like to see what has already taken place, you can go to this web page and see the results: http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~hjohnson/clark.html Also, the Colonial VA Clarks is an excellent web page; they are the ones who started the DNA project and they have lots of information on these Clarks. That address is: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~lksstarr/ Whether you participate or not, I would love to know more about your Clarks. Did any of them come to TX, and if they did, where? Didn't some of them go to the Calhoun/Talladega/Clay Co. area of AL? I hope to hear from you. Thanks. Sharon Clark [email protected]
