His parents were Caleb OBRIANT and Jessey? (possibly Brown) from S.C. He had 2 brothers, one was named James and a sister Lucy that married a CORBIN. Joseph Obriant was in the civil war and enlisted in Gilmer Co. He married a Jane Charles in Gilmer co in 1850-2, I don't have that record in front of me right now. He served the Confederacy, desserted, was put back in service. I can't find him on a pension roll though. He and Jane had several children. They lived in Gilmer co. and later in Jackson and Hall Co. His daughter Susan Melinda married a Thomas Gideon SHOCKLEYand they lived in Jackson and Hall Co. until the Run in Ok territory, then they went to Willow View-Lexington area of Ok. Joseph's children were known as BRYANT.-------I have found Caleb OBRIANT on the census for Rabun Co. Forsythe and Gilmer Co. Does anyone know of a connection to these families? Any help would be appreciated. Joyce _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses.
