No problem looking up marriages, deeds, etc. Anything that is in the public domain has no copyright. >> If you look them up on the original source - not out of someone's books. Many authors insert material in their pages that are not really available by looking at the public record to be able to prove that the material has been stolen. I have some in each of my books. We already have some early marriages online that were abstracted by an individual. They are linked from the webpage. I will not knowingly post copyrighted material to the Hall County webpage. Apparently no one uses the webpage and I have wasted a lot of effort. There have been less than a dozen actual contributors see above When I printed my first book, I needed to sell them to pay the printing cost which had been borrowed. One woman called and said her pages were smudged and could she get a clean copy. At that time, I had sold about 5 books and not to her. I asked her where she got the book and she said "Out of the garbage dumpster at the printers." I suggested she apply to the dumpster for replacement. There were 250 copies printed for me at a price. 41 went out by dumpster. I challenge all of you to do one thing if you really want a good website. Send 10 lines out of your own research to be put online on the Hall page. If you haven't looked up any original records I bet you have interviewed a relative. I intend to now go to the Hall County page and take out my contribution and see if you miss it. Donna
