There can be no copyright on public records. Only the format used is copyrighted. No problem looking up marriages, deeds, etc. Anything that is in the public domain has no copyright. Also, the only time you infringe on copyrighted text is when it is copied entirely. Excerpts are acceptable, however a source should be given for the records of those you looked it up for. It is my personal opinion anything looked up should be shared with the list. Otherwise, how would we know if we could use the information too.
